Where to go for a short break?

The ILs have offered H and I a child-free couple of days away, which is great! Where do we go though?
Looking for ideas for fun places to go/stuff to do within sensible driving distance of NH. We've already done Vermont (Ben and Jerry's factory, cider mill etc), Maine (got family there) and NYC (DNW to drive through there ever again). Doesn't have to be New England.
Open to any activity but wine tasting. I'm into small towns and local flavor, H likes scenic drives and hiking, both like food.

Niagara Falls? Finger Lakes region?

The Adirondacks? Old Forge? Canandagiua is in the Finger Lakes and it's really cute.

Me and DH stayed at Hampton Beach for a few days with his family a few years ago. It was fun. I also second finger lakes. DH's family has a house on Keuka Lake, we love it up there.

Finger Lakes are beautiful, but other ladies would have to fill you in on options beyond wine tastings (lots of wineries there which are a no go for you). We've rented a house up there too for a week, but it was for DH's college reunion so we didn't have to worry about other activities (though we did rent a boat for a day).

Another direction could be Mystic. We got married not far from there. You've got the historic seaport and casinos all nearby. You could also see what shows are going on at the casinos for something extra to do.
