Don't connect those! You're doing fine! I didn't even set the crib up for my last two babies because it didn't work great for us. We co-sleep a bit & I think it's so much easier to put the crib mattress on the floor rather than lower them in the crib without waking. So do what works & don't worry about "normal!" And people lie about their kids' sleep to feel good about themselves! Not everyone but plenty do so take it with a grain of salt! :-)
That is true...I just wish they made bigger swings. His legs are hanging off of it and the motor won't really swing his 20 lbs body as much! In your siggy, it says baby boy #4 on the way...is that old? I remember you posting awhile back but couldn't remember your story!
Yes, that's old! He is my September 2015 baby. :-) I'll try & update that!
I can't even about tonight. Heat rash (I think and hope) followed by C having congestion that kept me up the majority of the night. 4/4.5 hrs of sleep tonight AND I have my end of year evaluation conference this afternoon. My alarm goes off in 15. FML
My baby is broken. She went to bed at 7pm and decided 5am was her wake up time today. She had 7 MOTN wake ups! I don't even know what to try anymore. We did Sleepeasy, we're tried bed sharing and co-sleeping. Nothing seems to help. I have such a busy day ahead at work and I don't know how I'm going to get through the day! Hold me
I don't know what to do anymore. Emily usually sleeps 7-8 hours from the time I put her to bed around 8pm. Once she wakes up around 3am usually she cannot get back to sleep or stay asleep. I have to rock her or nurse her back to sleep and she either wakes when I transfer her or 15 minute later. This goes on for about 2 hours. She ends up sleeping in until 8:30am after all of this because she's exhausted.

MrsEmuTavi, I'm with you on just a few hours sleep last night. C is going down earlier and earlier each day but I cannot fall asleep for the life of me. I went to bed at 1, he woke at 2 to eat and then woke again at 3:45 and only fall back asleep for like 45 minutes at 6am. I knew this trip would break him but jeez! estakis ((hugs)) the times when nothing works are the worst. So much solidarity. rnchloe, that was us for the past 2-3 weeks. I don't know what caused it but it just started to get better on it's own last week.
AFM, how can my baby sleep so well laying on the couch next to me, but try to set him in his crib and he freaks out?! He hasn't put himself to sleep since we got on the plane Friday night. Once those teeth pop through and his sleep is a little more predictable we'll have to sleep train again. I can't decide if it's worth it to deal with while we're here or just want until we get home in 3.5 weeks.
Maybe I'll start with naps. He did better with those before anyway and they are a little more predictable than bedtime right now.
So.... I am toying around with the idea of revisiting some sleep training methods. But, I understand that you're not supposed to do sleep training when babies are teething. C has two teeth that are up through the gums, but they're not fully "grown up" so-to-speak. I don't know when she's done teething – is it when the teeth are fully "grown" size? It seems to me she's had more pain after the teeth came through the gums, than before. She's so much more of a mess now than she was before the teeth cut…

I'm always hesitant too, but another baby sleep site that I follow says to medicate and stay consistent with your sleep training method. That being said it might not be the best to start in the midst of teething. I always thought once the teeth actually cut through that they don't really hurt anymore??
b, you know your baby best and since you're questioning whether something else is going on then I'd make an appointment. A week is a long time to be waking that often, I hope you find an easy solution.
Okay - is there a way to know if every 20-30 minute wake ups are normal or if it is something more?
It is stupid, I know, but in the past I knew he woke at the end of EVERY REM cycle (43 minutes) because of pain from his fistulas. He would wake screaming, twisting, etc. After healing from his second surgery, this got better and his cries were more from the 'why aren't you here' camp or the occasional nightmare.
The past 4 days, it is back to a more shrieking cry. Usually, nursing puts him right back out (like it did in the past), but he has been inconsolable a few times. We're just getting over thrush, but we were getting better before this happened. I noticed last night he has another tooth outline, but it could be another month before it pops and tylenol/motion have done nothing to help him.
Also, his intake has dropped again. He is refusing the bottle, so just nursing prior to sleep. This contributes to the wake ups (hungry!), but doesn't explain the shrieking. And bottle refusal started AFTER thrush went away, so I don't know what is the problem.
Would you call the doctor at this point? I want to assume he is just waking for no reason, but they do sound like he is in pain (his tolerance drops when he is tired). Is there any NORMAL reason a baby would wake every.single 20 to 30 minutes for almost a week? Or is this a reason to contact a doctor?
I feel so out of my element. At least in the past, I knew he was in pain and we were working on it. I am not sure what to do now. Will my doctor just tell me it is normal and to suck it up? My FTM is showing...
I would call the doctor. Every 20-30 minutes is a lot of wake ups....
We fed C a bottle at bedtime just to change things up. I think she hasn't been nursing well at bedtime due to being distracted and tired. At least with a bottle we can tell how much she's eating. I can never really get a good feel for how much she eats when she nurses. Anyway, we're 2.5 hours into the night and no wake ups yet, fingers crossed the full tummy is helping. However, I think I'm getting a clogged duct though since I haven't BF all day...
Our 5th night here and C finally put himself to sleep and slept in his crib the whole night (from 9:20-6:20 with one wake up). I wish I felt more rested. Must go to bed early tonight.
