We own a house. Not our forever home as DH dreams of living in a different city but interest rates were low, we had the down payment, why not? We bought it more like an investment. It's 4 bedrooms. We've been doing small improvements. We will paint the nursery but the baby will stay in a bassinet in my room until she or he sleeps through the night.

We are in a house right now but just renting due to the fact that H is military. However, we just found out last week that we will be stationed in England like right after the baby is born. So I have no idea where we will be living once we move
We live in what I hope to be our forever home. It's a 70s bilevel, 3 br, 2 1/2 baths, 1 acre of land, and is 4 minutes from work. We bought in the same township that my mom went to elementary school, and this school district sends to my high school in the neighboring larger town. Both of my parents live 5 mins away in opposite directions, but Hs parents are an hr away. Ideally we would live closer to his parents than mine because his are the sane ones, BUT work isn't moving so we can't beat the commute (we are self employed and work together continuing my moms side family business).
We did a total gut of the kitchen and knocked down a wall to open up the LR/DR/Kitchen before we moved in. Next besides baby room will be bathrooms, but long term I'd like to make an addition and put a bigger master BR so we have 4 br. I'd prefer to stay in this house vs selling it, but with the kitchen renovation I think we have a decent amount of equity built up already, so you never know. I just HATE moving and LOVE my kitchen and yard.

We bought our house 2 years ago this month. It's a 3/2 in an older neighborhood. We've ripped up the carpet in half the house and put down wood, Painted every single wall, and are hoping to redo the bathrooms soon. I like it well enough but it won't be our forever home because Florida is not our forever. I do love that it is down the street from my parents and that we got a great deal because it was a short sale.
We just closed on a house last week that is 100 years old. We plan on being there at least 20 years! Great schools and decent commute. We're right by a park and there's a big front porch so we can watch the kids play as they get older.
With all that said, there is a tonnnnn of work for us to do!
I like everything about this! Id love to take an old house and make it ours.

Have you watched a tv show called rehab addict? If not you should. It's a flipper who only does historical houses. You will get some awesome ideas!

We just moved into this house last November. It's our second house but not our forever home. But it's definitely a huge improvement from our last one, and is brand new. We didn't pick the floor plan but bought it in time to pick out 90% of the finishes. We're working on bids for a deck and then landscaping after that!
ETA: we already have a bedroom waiting for this LO. It's the smallest of the four but next to our room (and next to the guest room, but oh well). Besides getting furniture and decorations it's all set for him/her.
Since we just moved out of Manhattan, the most exciting thing about the house is the washer/dryer. How sad is that?!
When we moved into an apt with a dishwasher and laundry, I thought I would die from excitement/relief!
When we were engaged, my husband moved into a short term 6 month lease at a fancy new building in midtown. The rent was insane but so were the amenities (and the view). It was like living in a hotel. He had a w/d, and when he moved in, I did all of his laundry. When it was finished, I looked at him and asked if it would be insane to dump it all and start all over again
