Wow. The pedi wouldn't let me give DS1 allergy meds until he was two, despite his clear and obvious seasonal allergies. I hadn't asked for LO- maybe recommendations have changed.
Do food or medication allergies run in your family? I wouldn't worry if not. I haven't checked out the Zyrtec ingredient list but if there's a choice for a dye free liquid I would get that just out of an abundance of caution.
ETA: it might might make him sleepy but if it feels better, do a dose for a few mornings first. Besides his sleep it won't hurt anything.
We started using Benedryl at 9 months with A for allergic reactions, so antihistamine are probably okay.
A got put on 2.5 ml Zyrtec in April for seasonal allergies. Allergist said that it takes 3 seasons for a person develop seasonal allergies and A tested positive for them in April. this is her 3rd season.
I'd be worried about night too and would try it during the day to be safe.

I was under this impression as well. I'd worry that you might be treating allergies that aren't allergies at this age.
But I do agree to wait til daytime to give meds to make sure he's ok with them.

Fwiw, I usually take xyzal which is related to zyrtec. I take it at night because it is supposed to make me drowsy. That's why allergy meds are sometimes taken at night.
What benadryl does everyone buy? I had trouble finding a kind just for infants.
Just the generic children's stuff. I had the pharmacist pull it for me so I didn't accidentally get a weird combo medicine. I think LO's dose is 1/2 a teaspoon.
