I'll keep with my theme of the week. I did my first pp #2 squatting in the shower because I was terrified and it was more relaxing with the hot water. Obviously it was then properly disposed of and the shower bleached. I filed it under "pp things mh will never know" and never told anyone until now.

Mine might actually be flame worthy. We are still planning to go to the BVIs (British Virgin Islands) this summer. It's a family tradition that we used to do once a year but havent done in about four years. My aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, and siblings are all going. Each individual family has their own boat where we live for the week. We just island hop to different beaches and chill in the ocean. I know this is selfish and risky but I am not ready to cancel. There is a VERY good chance we will be dropping out, especially if Zika does make it to the BVIs (no reported cases yet). But as of right now, I am going.

If you stay on the beaches I don't think the mosquitos live there. It's inland and the rainforests that you need to be wary of. We went on a cruise when we were ttc, and we just stuck to beaches, and stayed on the ship at the 2 ports that had a Zika warning

opheliainwaders and pibblemom, thanks. That actually makes me feel better. We mostly stay on the boats or in the ocean, never go inland except the drive from the airport to the marina to get the boats. I am stockpiling bug spray, bug spay wipes, long sleeve shirts, etc. I have no problem staying onboard all day. I don't care if I have to stay indoors. I just want DS and DH to enjoy this opportunity since they've never gone and the BVIs are so special to me.
I went to Mexico to shoot a wedding in beginning of March, and we weren't actively ttc when we got pregnant.. End of April.. Should I be worried about Zika?? I know we got bit by bugs there but we didn't go into the jungle at all stayed completely on the resort, and it wasn't a high infected area or anything.

ashtog,I second what pibblemom said. I wouldn't worry but it's probably worth mentioning to your OB. Sometimes I worry that I am NOT worried enough about zika...

Speaking of Zika... my boss wants me to travel to the Cayman Islands for work sometime this summer and I refuse to go. There have been no cases of Zika and they have a really good mosquito program there but I don't want to take any chances. Plus work travel is exhausting enough not KU, I'd rather not do it KU if I don't have to. I'm trying to put things off a few weeks before telling my boss I'm KU and then will tell him I don't feel comfortable going because of Zika.
And I wanted to point out that I'm not judging you ladies for where you travel, I'm totally using the Zika thing as an excuse to not go.
I was supposed to go to the Dominican in May for a family wedding. Cancelled the trip in February because we were TTC. Didn't want to tell our family, but we were able to use "buying a house" as our excuse. Found out I was pregnant the day before we were supposed to leave. My thought process is that there are so many things that could go wrong during a pregnancy, that if I can avoid something by skipping a fancy vacay this year, then that's what I'm going to do.
My fffc, I live in Florida and have no concerns about zika. I'm actually not even sure what zika really is. Sorry my ignorance is showing.
It's something you might want to look into since Florida is one of the areas that has a good chance of having the mosquitoes that transmit it. Zika can cause some really awful side effects in babies if contracted while you're pregnant, and can even cause death.
We named our dog Indiana (intentionally). We named our son Henry (not intentional but obviously aware of the connection). My confessions are as follows: 1. I've scoured the character lists of all the Indiana Jones movies trying to find a name that fits our style. No luck. 2. We trained Indiana to come running when we play or hum the Indiana Jones theme song. Super nerds! 3. This post was mostly so I could try out my new gifing skill.

I know people think it's horrible that I am struggling to make a decision when the answer is so obvious (I don't mean anyone on here, just in general). I shouldn't be torn about this decision but I am. The trip falls during 2nd trimester and the most recent study by Harvard and the CDC says first trimester is linked with the highest risk. I don't know, ugh. Sorry, FFC is probably the wrong place to dear diary.
My FFFC: when I got my low beta results last Friday, I stopped at the dollar store on the way home to buy a bunch if pregnancy tests, then peed on one every morning so I could watch the line get darker.

Whatever helps you get through the day! Why the hell not?

Re: zika, I am covered from head to toe in mosquito bites (or welts, I should say, since I have a pretty negative reavtion) from just being outside a few minutes without repellent. I'm not at all worried about it, but mosquitos apparently love pregnant women.
They are always talking about zika on NPR on my way to work. Scary stuff for sure, and really heightens the drama around the Olympics this year. That being said, I would totally travel somewhere with 0 cases reported and just slather myself in bug repellent. If there was even one locally acquired case, not a fat chance in hell though.

I canceled my trip to Brazil last year since my city is Zika ground zero. I won't lie, I'm a bit paranoid about it (probably because of the horror stories we keep hearing from there). I live in PHX suburbs so not a lot of mosquitos here but I still put bug spray when outside just in case.

I am extremely paranoid about Zika even though the main carrier mosquito variety doesn't live here in NorCal. But mosquitos freaking love me. I always get bit if they are nearby. Last year I got bit at a suburban gas station and inside a damn grocery store!
heybulldog it sounds like you're being smart about it. It also sounds like an amazing vacation! If no Zika is reported before then, I would still go.
Yeah, I cancelled my vacay because there were confirmed reports of Zika. Not because maybe.
we moved our vaca to Vegas. but i'm still worried about all the planes coming in and tourists carrying the wayward zika carrying female mosq. I will be heavily bug sprayed on the plane.
We were in Mexico and Belieze in January, with our 8wk pregnant friend, we used two cans a day of bug spray, they are due in Aug with a perfectly healthy baby. If I were them, I would have cancelled, they are brave.
