Today has been super low key and it has been awesome.
I slept until 9 (perk of being a FTM, no kids to wake me up early yet). DH left to go to the golf tournament with his Dad and I stayed in bed and read and then napped. I only left the bed to pee and make myself a bagel until 2:30. It was super lazy but after a stressful week it was much needed.
***possible triggers for other people's bleeding during pregnancy***
I've not had any red bleeding/spotting since Thursday afternoon which is great news, just some occasional brown spotting but not heavy at all. I did a little more research on SCH and it seems like while they are pretty common experiences range from "no big deal and a little spotting" to "I was hemorrhaging so much I needed a transfusion" I don't think mine was so large to be a huge concern but I'm thinking the position might be a little worrisome. I've forgotten exactly what my RE said because I was just so relieved that we still had a heartbeat and the bleeding was "only" a SCH that I wasn't paying as much attention as I should have been. I may call the office on Monday to see if a nurse can take a look at my chart to see if he wrote down any measurements or more information on the location. I might not because knowing doesn't change anything and if the bleeding comes back I do know what it is.
**end triggers**
I did a little research on MIL cancer diagnosis and even with as little as I know I'm concerned. Her mammogram last year (July) was clear so in less than a year it went from nothing to a 5cm tumor. According to what she told us last night it started as a "bulge" and when she thought it was moving up and started hurting she went to the doctor. They pretty much told her it was cancer before the biopsy (if I understood her correctly). Her PET scan is Tuesday and I'm not sure how long it will take to get results. If there is no cancer anywhere else it will probably be classified as Stage II if it has spread it will probably be Stage III. Since it grew so fast I'm worried it is an aggressive form.
They are going to try to shrink it with chemo to avoid a mastectomy, but she is a small chested woman (probably B/C cup) and a 5cm tumor is pretty large. I'm not sure why they don't just do the mastectomy to make sure they get everything, but I didn't ask too many questions last night because I didn't want to be nosy or act like I knew more than her doctors.
So prayers from my MIL and FIL as they go through this. We are going to try to visit them several times during her treatments and offer what support we can. They live about 2 1/2 hours away, close enough we can do weekend trips but just far enough away to make it inconvenient.
