Well that was a total non starter. DS refused to sit on the potty except for the one time when he watched the ipad, after that he screamed every time and got down. I tried ipad, stickers, and chocolate, he gave no shits
There have been many times where Peyton went back and forth with going on the toilet tons and then avoiding it.
She likes Elmo and I used my phone to pull up the Elmo potty training videos on YouTube.
There are a couple- one with singing and one like narrating a story. It shows Elmo and his teddy bear David getting potty trained. It definitely captured her attention long enough to relax her and then she would just pee.
Then was so happy that basically had just copied Elmo at the same time so was tickled pink about it!
We have the Elmo and baby David potty book. It lives on the back of the toilet still. Probably super disgusting. He still likes us reading it to him every once in a while. Usually he's quick now going potty.
DS did great today at school, only 1 accident. Then he came home an pooped his pants within 5 minutes, I guess he was holding it all day. I threw the underpants out

Good job at school!! He was probably holding it all day.
So we're down in Texas. DD has been dry all day both today and yesterday and using the potty. She even used the potty twice on the plane, not fun, very tight quarters. She is still hit or miss for poop but I'm shocked by how she's managed to just pick this up. I'm hoping by the end of the week she'll have it down so that we can do pull ups or underwear at school next week.
emmygirl, I'm jealous that your DD basically potty trained herself! I'd put her straight in pullups now if you want, there's really not much difference between them and diapers and makes it easier for her and you to go to the potty
DS did great yesterday with no accidents at school but he peed his pants as soon as he got home. He's refusing to sit on the potty at home and they said they think he's holding it in at school. I'm a little lost on what to do next.
emmagk , I'm not an expert at all, but it just seems like he's not ready. Mine isn't either.
But he's doing great at school, had no accidents yesterday and only 1 today. They were surprised when I said he won't go at home
I got confused because you mentioned that DC says they think he's holding it in. I took that as all day he's holding it and not doing anything there, sorry.

Oh no he's going there and managing to hold it between potty breaks

I think he's fine. Are you making him pee at school before you get in the car? Also- when they're first learning, they don't empty their bladder all the way. They might go a little and think thats it and really need to go again. Emptying it fully takes time. He may go before he leaves and then realize too late he still has to go as well. If it's an issue that daycare is more relaxed about it, he could be doing it on purpose to either get a reaction or try to assert control.

He goes at 5, so about 10 minutes before I pick him up and we're usually home by 5.30. It could be an emptying bladder thing since DC are making him drink a lot to encourage more peeing. I just don't know why he won't sit at home, could be a control thing.

What do you do to get him to brush his teeth when he doesn't want to? Incentivize? Time out? I follow the same rule of thumb with sitting to potty. If he doesn't go fine, but he has to sit.

Not brushing teeth only started this week, usually he loves doing it but time out is our go to. Maybe I need to try that tomorrow, since bribery of all forms has failed. Oh and tonight I pinned him down to brush his teeth, nothing else worked

We pin down to brush teeth most nights.
We also have a little potty in the kitchen (which I remember is flammable here, but oh well) basically immediately after walking in the house I make DS sit on it and try to pee.
emmagk, I would start talking about it in the car. Say something like "as soon as we go home, you can pee on the potty and then we can have a snack (or whatever incentive)!" Or if it's not too cold out, let him pee outside or pee standing up when you get home. My DS loves peeing in the grass, so he would be excited for it.
Does he have his own little potty? Maybe that would help. That's what intrigued Eliza at first. She'll go on both now but at first it was just the little chair.

I actually did this all the way home and told him he could watch cat videos if he sat on the potty. But there was pee before i even got in the house. This morning was -12, so no peeing outside. MH got him to sit this morning after much yelling

yes, he has both a little potty and potty rings for the big toilet.
activebaby I actually have no idea what the school potties look like. They are way on the other side of the building and i never go past the boot room. I'll ask tonight
Eliza was motivated by a present wrapped on the toilet at my Mom's. Once she's PT and has no accidents for a good amount of time then she'll get that present. ALong with the treat container on the back of toilets. She gets the treat immediately after going. Maybe a present is worth a try? Eliza should get to open hers later this week.
