hurricanerek, Probably the same as plane entertainment. Id give him a small new toy every hour-ish. We give small containers of snacks too. He loves pretzels, goldfish, strawberries, grapes, crackers or things like that.

Snacks and the tablet. We have a season of mickey and some disney movies and that holds his attention. We also try and plan around nap times if possible.
We are doing some long trips in a couple weeks and I think we are going to flip his seat around. I'm going to need more space to stretch out now and he will enjoy a new perspective which also might help.

We try and travel around nap time (although tomorrow morning won't be). I let both kids pack toys and books in their backpacks and they can get to them in the car. We haven't needed to pull the iPad out yet for road trips so I'm holding out on that as long as possible.
Snacks, and giving her one toy at a time, or new/forgotten about books and toys for entertainment. She doesn't always sleep in the car (even at nap times) so for us it works best to leave early in the morning when we can, just because she's a lot easier to deal with in the morning.
What are some little toys you have in the car for them? Right now I have some new touch and feel books, Water Wow activity books, and a Quiet Book that we bought for DS1 around the same age, and a travel magna doodle. All of which will probably keep him entertained for a tots of 10 minutes, lol.

The trip worked really well. I brought about a dozen of her books with us and they occupied her for a solid two hours. We interspersed that with snacks. We did the magna doodle as well as some reusable stickers from Melissa and Doug. We sang lots of songs together and if all else failed, we gave her the iPad. She did not sleep a wink in the car, though.
