rvamama I work for Richmond. I'm pretty sure I could have tattoos on my face and they would keep me lol. They are so desperate for teachers. But, I had it pierced at my old job and another teacher has it done. I don't think anyone will notice.
ladymike You need to write a book about your boss. At least a blog.
Has anyone moved away from family? As in states away? DH is really wanting to move somewhere warmer but I'm a bit nervous about moving away from family. I'm kind of close to my parents and my mom is really our only babysitter. Plus starting over and finding a job for myself. I'd love to live somewhere warmer but IDK.
ruemorgan and anyone else; How is the Virginia/North Carolina area like? DH wants to live near the coast. Anyone teach in this area?
jcar I couldn't leave my family. It would take some real good reasons for me to consider it. VA is nice, the warm weather can be quite humid. Where do you live currently? graciest719 can speak more to teaching. I have many teacher friends, some who have had a hard time finding positions and some who have not. I enjoy being 2 hours to the beach, near the bay/rivers, an hour from the mountains. There is a lot to do. I feel like our state is very family oriented.
graciest719 if you get your nose pierced i know lucky 13 next to VCU is $20 a piercing. Ive gotten a few from them and they were quick and clean, healed nicely. Also "i could have tattoos on my face and they probably wouldnt care" lololol, ohh richmond. Its so true.
rvamama I'm not close to the rest of my family but leaving my parents would be really hard. I totally understand. I'm from Ohio. How's the culture for teachers down there from what you've heard? I figure you may have a different opinion from graciest719. Do your friends genuinely like their jobs? I would love being so close to beaches/mountains and having stuff to do. Ohio is pretty boring. Winters are pretty mild right?
graciest719 I'm not sure if we're friends on FB so feel free to PM me here or there with answers if you'd like. How do you like teaching there? Did you teach in Ohio previously? If so, do you like it better or not so much there? Do you have to put a certain percentage into retirement (here it's 14%)? What are the jobs like? Anything my H should look out for? What made you move to Virginia? How is it not being around family? I feel like I have a hundred questions for you.
1. AF arrived and I have no hygiene products on hand. Super awesome.
2. I grabbed the wrong container for lunch and instead of bringing a sausage for a sandwich and rice with peas, I brought an entire container of rice. Great.
rvamama, happy to hear your dad's procedure went well. malvo, sorry today is t going well. Go home and drink all the wine tonight! ladymike, your boss sounds like a winner! Or as I've been calling my coworker He's a special snowflake!
jcar, I have no family here. My parents were here but they moved away for a job after I graduated HS. We have H's family though however unhelpful they are (mostly). I'd move somewhere where your quality of life is better, whatever that means to you..
O is feeling better so we went to the beach today and did some shopping. She did great!
So tell me if I'm wrong here. We were invited to a super formal wedding in October at the beach (about 3 hours away). It's a good friend of mine and a beautiful place so I want to go but I know this isn't a wedding I can bring O to.
We talked to MIL and she said she'd be happy to stay at our house that weekend to watch O. We booked a hotel and are excited about a mini vacation baby free.
So today MIL called today with a "great idea." She suggested she get a hotel room where we are staying and bring O. Then we can hang out with her and O and she would watch O while we are at the wedding....
Now, obviously it's very generous of her to watch O and to offer that but WTF? This is not what we talked about and I think it's weird for her to insert herself into our trip. H thinks it's a nice offer. I think it sounds horrid. Who is right?
