We are coming up on our babies 2 year old birthdays! ! I need to get a list together for presents and I'm not coming up with any great ideas. Share your present ideas, party themes, etc here and let's help each other brainstorm!

I think we're going to do a "Finding Nemo" theme. By theme I mean plates and napkins. Maybe some balloons. I'm not going to go overboard with that kind of stuff. It'll be like a barbecue with cake. I still have no idea for presents. My kid doesn't play with anything, so I always feel like toys are a waste of my money.

I haven't thought about a theme, but I have definitely thought about presents! We are asking for only books and tickets to do things. We will get Henry a toy, but we absolutely do not need 20 new toys in this house.

We are probably doing a Finding Nemo theme or a Home theme (her two favorite movies presently).
For presents we are trying not to accumulate little trinkets around the house. Magnatiles, outdoor toys (basketball hoop, cozy coupe, sandbox), potty books, movies (Zootopia, The Good Dinosaur). We may be buying her some dress-up clothes as that seems to be one of her favorite pastimes right now. Oh, and 3T pajamas and maybe some winter clothes if we get desperate for ideas.
If we have a theme, it will probably be Curious George. We were going to have it at our local State Park but since we'll probably be moved into IL's house by then, we'll most likely have it there. We're planning on getting her a kitchen as she loves pretending to stir, feed us, etc. Nobody really asked what to get her last year so I doubt they will this year.
ice61313 The kitchen is a great idea, our DD loves it.
I want to do a super laid back backyard party this year. I'm thinking a Minnie Mouse theme because it's her favorite.
If anyone doesn't have one of these push cars, I highly recommend it for a gift. We use ours many times every day. She has loved it since she was about 8 months old, so it can be recycled for a second kid too. www.step2.com/p/push-around-buggy

I am debating between Clifford and airplanes, her twin obsessions. DH was pushing strongly toward a family only dinner since he had surgery today and DD3 arrives in 7 weeks.
We have a lot of 2 year old toys already: tons of Legos, a kitchen, a Cozy Coupe, and so on. I am thinking maybe a balance bike? DD2 is obsessed with bikes but can't work our trike yet and it infuriates her to be left out when DD1 rides her bike.
I'm not sure we're even doing a big party, our plan is to go out for the day as a family and maybe go to the Zoo. As for presents Max LOVES the local trams and we managed to find a toy one that looks just like the type used in Nottingham, can't wait to see what he makes of it.
Unless I get a surge of creativity I doubt DS will have a theme for his party. It will definitely be smaller than his first and I will have a 5ish week old to tend to as well. I can't even figure out who I want to invite so everything depends on that.
We will probably do a small family only birthday. I'm not sure about a theme yet- either genetic "2" or Mickey or trains. We'll do it in the backyard pool like we did last year and probably grill hamburgers. As far as gifts goes, well ask for fall clothes. Maybe outdoor toys. Our gift to him will be a new backpack to start preschool with the next day. We may do a few other small things but he has so much I don't want to get much.
No party for us again this year. I am going to host a playdate with his baby friends at the zoo a couple days before his actual birthday, but otherwise we plan to keep the day for just the 3 of us. We might go visit the huge park at the town over from us on his actual day. I haven't put much thought into it yet.
For presents, I already got him some Usborne books, and I have a brand new doctor's kit stashed away (bought it cheap after Christmas) so I am thinking about giving him that. We already have so much hand-me-downs that I try to limit too much for new toys. If grandparents want to get him something, I think we will ask for outdoor toys or sand toys.
We do not want more toys in the house. I would love things like tickets or memberships to the zoo or other activities. Clothes maybe. No gifts would be great really.
Possible theme of baloons or something simple like that.
