After finally getting L down for a nap, I hopped in bed for a nap myself but my dog decided he was going to cry/whine/bark until I let him out. Nap fail
LO clusterfed the last two evenings so I was convinced he'd have finally gained some more weight. Nope. If anything, he's down an ounce again. So we're back to supplementing every feed with formula, which I hate but I don't see any choice. I can't figure out if I have a supply issue, a posture issue (very possible since I'm trying to nurse sitting in bed, propped up on pillows, and usually end up somewhat reclined), or some other issue. Maybe I'll suck it up and trek downstairs every two-three hours, since we have decent chairs down there. He went all piranha on the supplement, so I agree he's not getting enough from breast, but it is SO frustrating. And the doctors and nurses keep telling me I'm not doing anything wrong, but that is really hard to believe when my child is still ravenous and I'm the one who's supposed to be feeding him.
It's not that I have an issue with formula--I really think the important thing is to feed your kid. But I love nursing, as frustrating as it is, and I'd like nothing more than to be able to just feed him. I've had a lot of body issues, and childbirth and nursing have helped them, but being able to EBF would sure help a lot more.
Tell me more about this club that earns ppl sleep, at night no less!! LO is 14 days and sleeps so much worse at night still. I can get her to take a fair nap without getting fussy during the day but at night, she's attached to my chest or in my arms all the time! We stink at the swaddle and she breaks free every time. Hopefully she'll just catch on to the day/night change soon on her own? We're trying to keep things light during the day and dim/quiet at night.
On the bright side, she gained 18 oz in 12 days!!! I was a very proud mom at our 2 week Appt.
Mine is a baby hulk and busts through swaddles- hates the swaddle me but I've had good success with the halo sleep sack that has the swaddle. I zip him in and rock/feed him and then swaddle those arms down when he passes out. He's sleeping much better at night now (20 days old).
LO hasn't slept at all today except for 20-30 mins in my arms after feeding!! I'm hoping that means he will sleep tonight, please let that be true because I need some sleep!

Yay for awesome weight gain! Give the sleep thing time... My LO is 25 days old and 4 hour stretches at night just happened for the first time last night. The trade off is that he is awake and eats all day long!
I hate how lack of sleep makes me hungry. Logically I know I'm just tired but my body thinks it needs food to keep going. Makes trying to lose weight super fun.
I have been feeling more hungry than I thought I should and starving in motn feedings. I didn't even think about part of it maybe being because I'm tired.
Had my 6 week pp check up today. It's only been 5 weeks but for some reason they scheduled it early. Anyway, I decided to get the IUD I'm still not 100% sure I'm comfortable with it but I go back in 4 weeks for her to check on it and make sure I'm happy with it. Oh and we got the ok for sex! My husband is so happy!
Evie napped for 2 1/2 hours while we tidied and organized our back of the house. I'm still not finished because my bleeding increased so I had to sit down... But the linen closet is organized and I hung a print in the nursery! Now into town for errands and hopefully Thai food!
4littlebears, I am only now viewing this all in desktop format on my phone (I don't have a laptop yet) and I saw your signature about your two kids that have life-threatening allergies! Scary! What are they allergic to? My oldest DS is severely allergic to zythromax and broke out in hives, even in his face and mouth. DD is severely allergic to amoxicillin and broke out in severe hives in both her top later and second layer of skin, she was miserable!
Oh my gosh. Yes hives and swelling are so scary! I myself had a mild swollen eyelid reaction to sulfa. They said to be extremely careful because it's one of those drugs that will be a big reaction next time. Allergies to antibiotics are very serious.
My oldest 2 have severe allergies to peanuts and tree nuts. And my oldest has a milder allergy to eggs. He can even eat baked goods in moderation. My second also has an allergy to amoxicillin. We carry epi pens everywhere we go.
And I know what you mean, I'm mobile 99% of the time! I almost never see the siggies and love tits. edit for phone failure
I have 4 little bears, just like my name says. 2 girls 2 boys ages 8,5,3, and my newest babe. 2 of my little bears have life threatening food allergies, feel free to ask me more about that!

Miracle blanket! Stops a baby Houdini in his/her tracks.

LO decided he wanted to wake up and be hungry just as we sat down for dinner. DH's solution was to put his car seat canopy over part of his swing to block the light... Nice try, but he started squawking when the light was off. So now I'm not eating, I'm feeding LO and my jackass husband is just at the table eating. And he has done nothing to keep my plate warm.
LO has this aversion to sleeping in our bedroom. She was asleep when we put her in the bassinet and within 5 minutes she was awake. And now here I sit on the couch where I will sleep yet again because she will sleep out here and so FI can get some sleep.

Peanuts seem to be a pretty scary allergy because sometimes those seem to sneak into things. That would be terrifying to see your child have a reaction to that! Thankfully, although severe, both my kids' allergies are to things they won't get unless they ever forget to tell a doctor or pharmacist about their allergy.
They are really scary, but did you know that any food allergy can be just as deadly? It's a common misconception that peanut allergies are the worst. They are definitely the most common severe allergy, but some kids can go into anaphylaxis just by touching dried up milk. I definitely hope we are gaining more exposure though. And research is getting better. I'm really hopeful for a cure for my kids before they reach adulthood!

Wow! I didn't know that. We think my DD has an allergy to dairy, but not severe. She just used to throw up randomly all the time, and since cutting out dairy, she's mostly stopped. But we're gonna be taking her to a G.I. Doctor in the next couple months to try to find out for sure.
Well shoot. I hope she doesn't, just because I never wish this on anyone. But if she is, I hope they find it because some answers are better than none and then you know for sure what to do to make her feel better.
