My child is everywhere this morning... Stairs, water bowl, outlets... All just effing amazing in her eyes. We've baby proofed all of nothing since we're trying to sell the house, so my day will be spent watching this child like a hawk. She responds to the word no (for now), so at least she redirects easily. DH is working, and I'm hoping we have one or two showings today. I'd really like to sell this house!
We survived our first night of sleep training. It really went well. She cried for about 20 minutes at bedtime. She had one wake-up where she cried about 20 minutes also. She fell asleep sitting up both times. We had to reposition her the first time because her face was mashed into the crib rails. The second time, we repositioned her but it woke her up. So we let her sleep sitting up and she eventually sort of moved onto her tummy in a really uncomfortable looking position. Hopefully she'll learn how to lay down when she's sleepy.
We started BLW this morning. We started with puffs since they're dissolvable - she loved them! She's not quite got chewing down. Any suggestions of other first foods to try with BLW that don't require much chewing? We were going to do some small chunks of avocado later.
I can back home with a at 11 pm last night and he slept in until 8:30 am (angel sings).
I got a text from BIL at midnight that they put SO to bed because he was drunk lol. Not easy being 32 especially when he had to be at work at 7 am this morning.
A couple of friends are coming today to use the pool and do a low key bbq since the weather will be insanely hot. This is why we got the pool and I'm so happy to be the summer chilling spot. 3 events in 3 days is not good for my diet though

Roasted sweet potatoes stick!!
ETA: A's only food that he doesn't like are avocados so don't worry if it's not a hit
Z has pooped 5 times now and it's not even 11. No diarrhea yet, but I fear it's coming. No fever either so I'm just chalking it up to lots of fiber for now. Fx he's not coming down with something.

I've been wanting to do BLW too but avocados, strawberries, bananas, etc are too squishy or slippery and he can never manage to get anything in his mouth. It's so frustrating! I'm also working on the sippy cup and he always makes a mess out of it. He can't figure out a straw. I assume I just keep offering it until he figures it out.

Ugh. Just got a message that MIL is currently immobile because her knees have been locking up and she's in a lot of pain. She had to get some cortisone shots and is Dr. Ordered bed rest this weekend. Except none of DHs siblings can take her this weekend, so DH needs to go up. Which is ok with me- but now he's got it all fuddled. He doesn't want to drive, so he wants to take the train, spend the night, and take the train back. And he wants to take J- but the whole car seat thing between the train and whatever vehicle to her house is an issue. He doesn't want to take ours because it's big, and I refuse to let him in a vehicle unrestrained. So now DH is mad, and I don't understand why he's so hopped up on taking a four year old in the first place. There's no space, nothing to do, and he will bug him because he needs to focus on his mom and you can't just expect a four year old to take care of himself.
I'm like- can't you just drive the car and go alone like a normal person? I don't know why he's making this difficult.

We've been doing BLW for 4 months now (whaaaaat) and slippery food is still hard. I offer him banana at the same time as baby cheerios so it's easier for him to combine.
As I said before, roasted sweet potatoes stick were the first food that he brought easily to his mouth since the exterior is gritty but it's mushy inside.
While Dani was napping I made a nice little lunch for her and put it on a baby plate. She only decided it was acceptable to eat after it was unceremoniously dumped into her tray, from said plate.
H had the kids this morning while I had brunch with my friend and went to her hair trial for her wedding. He texted me that it is impossible to get anything done now that Allie is mobile, lol. Yes. It is hard. But I've still managed to paint the ceilings, walls and trim in two rooms in the two weeks that she's really become mobile. So, no sympathy from me, dude.

Very ripe/soft pears. Small chunks of baked or roasted sweet potato. Lots of other options but Asher used those to start.

DH is at an all day bachelor party (cue eye roll). They wanted him to spend the night too but I said no.
Asher and I had a leisurely morning. We just got back from a run and are doing lunch/pump/shower then running a few errands before heading to the zoo with BIL, SIL, & their toddler.

I'm impressed with your bravery! I think Hannah probably would have slung the plate across the room. I don't remember doing plates until almost 2 with DS. As far as actual toys Hannah likes the FP Little People Farm, especially the animal sounds, play food, texture balls, and her push walker. She also loves crumbs, kitchen utensils, paper, and the stove.
estakis I also suggest sweet potatoes. If you do banana, you can leave the skin on and just cut it so a little bit of fruit is exposed (lots of examples if you google). Avocado can be slippery, but Hannah would just mash it up and suck it off her fingers when she could pick it up. Another great first food is steamed broccoli because the stalk makes a great handle.
Currently both my kids are napping!!!! After Hannah getting up at 415 (she went back down at 530 thankfully but I was wide awake) I am glad for some down time. I'm currently catching up on Big Brother and eating baby puffs because I'm too lazy to walk to the kitchen.
I got to go food shopping ALONE today! Got a coffee and took my damn time! H took DS to see his sister & new baby. DS is such a little shit he sat and held his cousin do you know how long it took me to get him to do that with Val. They sent me pictures and I was like what a little bitch! Val & I are having mommy & daughter day by the pool. She is napping so I'm drinking a few twisted teas in peace!
What toys are everyone's kids playing with right now? I feel like Dani is just over everything she has and I need to add some new items.
I have a laundry basket filled with little things - dolls, cars, teethers, wooden toys, musical instruments - that I just put in the "cage" with her and she goes through it and picks out what she wants, makes a mess, etc. works well to keep her busy.
The cage is a gate around the couch to keep her in one spot.
tngrl3 Dani eats her lunch from a plate each day at school, so I figured it was a safe bet. Now the sippy cup? That will be launched across the room after every few sips.
Just realized my child is wearing the dress she wore on Thanksgiving... at 2 months old. I don't really look at sizes in her closet, and just remove things as they get too small (lol). This was short enough to not trip her when she crawls, and fits like a skirted romper now. Sorry kid. You're tiny... but at least you have an extensive wardrobe since everything still fits you.
Thanks you for the kind thoughts for my grandmother. They found out she has Mersa, so they are seeing what strain to make next moves. It is scary, but she is 81 so I am trying to prepare myself. Her gallbladder is filled with stones and infection and bile duct is completely blocked. She is very sick.
Today we kept ourselves busy going to stores since I am not able to visit - ikea, old navy, carters, gap, and went to Mexican lunch. Going to the pool now and made a pitcher of champagne, brandy, peaches and strawberries to take with us.

Tomorrow we're headed to MD to visit Jacob's great grandmother. We'll also spend a day at the beach. I'm a little excited for a mini-getaway, but I've been busy packing all morning.
My sister's dance recital is tonight so my ILs are coming over to watch Jacob and put him to bed. This will be the first time someone other than me or DH puts him to bed. I hope it goes well.
mowkey will be thinking of your grandmother and your family and sending prayers for healing. MRSA usually responds well to antibiotics and sometimes they can do a procedure to relieve the pressure from the gallbladder to buy some time before doing surgery. Glad you had a little retail therapy to take your mind off things.

Cal is into *real* items as others have mentioned. I got him the kid's pots and pan set from Ikea...he LOVES it. He also has some stainless steel condiment cups that he loves (like the things your ketchup comes in in a restaurant). Making noise is fun.
I also put a bunch of little things into an empty kleenex box, like chewies and links, and he loves taking them out and putting them back. And stacking cups. Apparently he's at the stage where he's into putting things in other things and pulling them back out.
We also just got a Zany Zoo activity cube as a hand-me-down which has been pretty popular out our house.
