Ugh shoot me now. Freya woke from her morning nap after 40 minutes. It's going to be a long day.
This is a long Ramona nap. How is she my daughter? I love sleep. She needs to recognize.
Oh that's how my first one was. But she was a good night sleeper and a pretty chill kid so it wasn't too bad. Freya is bad a night and crazy into everything so the 2 1.5 hour naps I usually get are glorious.

I'm annoyed. Someone on my neighbourhood BST site was looking for a Moby wrap so I offered mine for $25, which is a very good price by local standards. I figured I'd help out a neighbour. She shows up with $20 bills and we have no change. So she says we should trust her and she'll come back tomorrow with the $5. That was two days ago. I've since gotten apologetic FB messages but no $. It's only $5 and I didn't actually expect to ever see it. But I'm annoyed that the wrap that held my tiny, squishy babies went to someone untrustworthy.
Well, A was STTN until MERIKA WEEK! started in my state. Fireworks for hours every single frickin' night. Plus, she's teething. Send all the coffee. It'll go on like this until the 6th or 7th. Technically there's a cut off time, but few follow it and the police are a little busy responding to shots fired calls that are of the lead variety.
I miss Iowa and its fun hatin', fireworks bannin' ways.
Me (37) + DH (39) BFP #1: DS born July 2011 BFPs #2,3,4,5: Four losses from Nov 2013-Nov 2014. Yeah, that sucked. BFP #6: 1/5/15 - Rainbow baby boy born 9/16/15
I'm going to bite the bullet and order a new carseat for Dani. She is starting to act so miserable and uncomfortable on car rides now... which sucks since we commute 30+ minutes (each way) every single day.
Does anyone know how the Maxi Cosi Pria fits in a sedan? I was going to get a Recaro seat, but I keep reading reviews saying it's really tall, which obviously won't work in my car, so I nixed that idea.

Popping in to catch up. We had a freaking blast this weekend, but now I'm exhausted at work today. Saturday we took the boys to a waterpark in WI Dells. DH and I took turns going on slides with the big boy while one of us stayed back in the shade with Henry. He also loved splashing in the water in the zero-depth entry kiddie pool (pic below). As soon as we got home, a babysitter came over and we took friends out on the boat Sat. night for our city's fireworks display. Then on Sunday it was more boat time with another set of friends and their kids, then a campfire in the backyard at night. Yay, summer! But I feel like I need a nap.

caitost21 I'm excited to hear your experience with the Dockatot! Although F always wakes up at 4 to eat so it hasn't made him STTN but I still consider it STTN since he goes 8 hours. Plus, it got him in the crib and that was a huge win. F wouldn't sleep in a PnP either but he is currently at MiL taking a 2 hour nap in the Dockatot in the Pnp. If it doesn't work for you, they resell at close to the same price.

At some point does the 3 day rule for introducing new foods stop being needed? I feel like we are so slow at introducing new foods, that C will be 5 years old before she's had most foods!
Has anybody started introducing cow's milk? At our 9 month appointment, our pedi said we could start introducing cow's milk since neither DH nor I have an allergy to it. He said to just have her drink whatever we're drinking – we drink 2%. After doing some reading on the interwebs, now I'm questioning his suggestion. It seems as though the recommendation generally is whole milk, and to wait until 1 year old.

Whole milk as a beverage at 9-12 months is OK as long as it's not substituting for breastmilk or formula. If C has had cheese or yogurt, there's no reason to believe that milk itself would be an allergy concern. The wait until 1 year has more to do with cow's milk not having the balanced nutrition of BM/formula. Regardless of when you introduce it, I'd give whole milk for the fat. Babies/young toddlers need lots of fat for brain development.
MS and tiredness are right on time at 5.5 weeks. So sleepy... zzzzzz...
On the plus side, I want Tom Yum soup and we already have curry made for dinner. DH approves of adding a side of Tom Yum, which I can pick up from a restaurant on the way home. Happy pregnant lady!
estakis, we abandoned the 3-day rule awhile back. We just offer whatever food is available and supplement with baby food staples. Up until yesterday, A would eat anything. Suddenly it's crackers, puffs, and milk only. She'll eat yogurt and baby food only if you let her do it pick up style. Which really just means spreading it everywhere and sucking on your fingers.
So tired. About to pick her up from DC for her follow-up eye appointment. Just wanna sleeeeeep. I have a nauseating headache, probably from all the coffee. Grumble.
txshep I tried one of the Maxi Cosi seats in my car (the Jool, as the Pria is an American model). While I found it fit well back to front, and across, the seat bottom was high and I didn't feel like it gave me enough space to pass A through the door.
I know rnchloe has the Pria and drives the same car as me (Chevy Cruze) so she might have better insights!

As a fun thing to have a couple ounces of a day it's fine. You would want to do whole milk if she was going to be drinking it in place of formula or BM.

txshep , honestly I think a lot of it depends on the shape of your seats. I had read that that Maxi Cosi Pria was good for the Mini Countryman but we tried it in H's and it barely fit at the correct recline. It's also really wide so if your seats are bucket shaped at all then it might be really difficult to get a good install. My suggestion is always to go to a store and try a bunch.
That being said, I still really like the Pria. It is huge, but also soooo pretty!
eta: apparently I really like the word "really" today.

WSS. If you're just offering a tiny bit with meals then don't go out and buy special milk for her. Yes, after 1, when you're replacing breastmilk/formula then you'll want whole milk.
Personally, I'm not worrying about cows milk at the moment...we're still mostly having fun with solids.

Why so dead today?!
C just went down for a nap, it's 4pm - thanks 15 minute car nap! And instead of accomplishing stuff around the house, I'm reorganizing my boards on Pinterest. PRIORITIES!

estakis We abandoned the 3 day rule a while back. He's had all the major allergens with no reaction so we just started to give him whatever we're eating. He's pretty good with just rolling with it and eating whatever and that's invaluable to us (for however long it will last).

Same here - I figure that if he reacts to something, we'll be able to figure out and retest what's the cause
charliefox I reorganized and deleted a bunch of pins the other night. Now only if I could do that in real life. My list of to-dos and organizing grows longer every day.
To touch on cow's milk, I started giving Mr. P an ounce or two at dinner a few days ago just so he can get used to the flavor. He loves it.
P is no longer taking breast milk from a bottle or sippy cup and I'm trying to figure out what to do with all these bags of milk. I can't do regular donation because I did use herbs and tea off an on. Does anyone else have a suggestion or experience with this? I would hate to toss it all.
Human Milk for Human Babies is a mom to mom donation group. Most areas have a FB page. I have donated through them several times. I take prescription medication so no official places will take it. I've also donated locally through a breast feeding group in my area. Or you could always sell it to bodybuilders which I've heard is getting pretty popular these days (no first hand experience I swear! just something I read on a donation page.)

And J has a fever and belly rash. It came on so fast. He was fine at day care pick up and burning up after we got home. He fell asleep in my arms in the chair which has never happened in his life. I feel so bad for the little guy.
Well, Rafa went down in the crib for morning nap but not the second, so I gave up and just put him to bed at 7pm. Hopefully he sleeps til 7am.
I'm so pissed. The landlord of the house we were going to rent just changed his mind about accepting our offer, after we paid $70 to do the background/credit check. I don't care so much that we've lost the house (although it was SO nice) but 1) we wasted $70, and 2)now we don't have a house to move into when we arrive which means having to pay for storage for our stuff so another cost. Grrrrr.
Regarding cows milk (or any milk) I agree with everyone else that an ounce or two is fine as long as it's not replacing formula/BM. It could also help the transition go faster come 1 year. We had a really tough time transitioning A and it took until about 13.5 months for her to be completely weaned off of BM bottles. We also waited until 1 to introduce milk (soy) for the first time and had to phase it in mixed with BM. She still will only drink vanilla soy.
For M we intend to introduce soy milk in a sippy at 10 months with lunch and hope that smooths the transition for her come September.
Re: fat content, whole milk is preferred for the fat to help brain development. But it's not a "must." Soy milk is not as fatty as whole or 2% but all the doctors say A is not lacking. The only supplement she takes is calcium and that's more because she never drank more than 6 ounces of milk per day and can't get enough from other sources.
Also, re allergies. We were advised by the allergist to stick to the 3 day rule for the top allergens but it was not necessary for other foods. It's worked just fine for both girls. With A we figured out the dairy allergy on day 2 and since it was the only new food she had, it was evident.
If you have any history of allergies please, please introduce the allergen at breakfast or lunch first. Reactions can take time and if you do it at dinner, you may not see it before bed (I know from experience).
I'm starting to struggle a bit with my supply. (Not pumping 1-2oz per day so not outrageous, but builds over time eating into my stash). When I struggled in April I upped my pumping and that really helped. But I'm not sure what I will do since we're closer to a year.
I'm nervous since we still have 2 months to wait for our allergist visit to determine about his dairy allergy. I might try soy formula to supplement the 2-3 oz at DC. He has started not drinking an oz at at least one bottle a day, so he might be starting to decrease his intake slightly.
Ugh I hate not knowing what to do. I will probably call the pedi to see what she thinks we should do of we need to supplement.
Thanks for all the feedback. I now realize my pedi was ok'ing cows milk as a drink, not as a replacement for BM/formula. I'm thinking we'll be less stringent on waiting a few days after trying new foods. Our pedi did tell us no allergen foods until 1yo including: peanut butter, chocolate, strawberrit's, fish and shellfish, eggs. Maybe he's a little old school.

I think there's a lot of variation out there in terms of when to introduce allergy foods. But I would go ahead and start giving LO those foods one at a time (except chocolate maybe). Foods that aren't high allergy I've never worried about a d have never followed the 3 day rule.
