Anyone else dealing with night terrors? A woke up screaming bloody murder MOTN and wouldn't let us leave him alone. If I even moved he'd whimper and his heart was racing. MH texted me and said he did the same thing during his nap today. Anyone have any ideas?
Possibly night terrors. DS actually seemed to have them when he was very very little yet, and then they petered out pretty quickly after they started. Hopefully they don't last long for you guys. Sorry your little one is dealing with this!

That sounds rough for all of you!
For some reason I thought you couldn't calm a kid down during true night terrors (see this and there are a few other sources that agree). Apparently if the night terror reoccurs around the same time into sleep each time, you can try waking your child a few minutes before to reset the internal clock.

This. Also, a friend said there would be a certain sound that would trigger hers, like a train whistle during the night.
gratefulgirl I thought so too. So I'm just confused as to what was causing it. Maybe just a nightmare that he remembered when he woke up and was legit scared of us leaving? He seemed absolutely terrified. But he was fine last night so I'm hoping it was just a one time thing.

Any chance he was overtired? DD1 would do that around this age when overtired. I think she stopped reacting to being overtired like that sometime around 2.5.

Possibly. We had a big weekend but he slept well Monday night and Tuesday was relatively low key. Maybe it was just catching up to him Tuesday night.
Sometimes ds flips out when he wakes up after a nap or motn and is still tired. I don't get it. He can be inconsolable for hours sometimes. If it happens after a nap, a snack and a TV show usually gets him out of the funk. Motn is more tricky. We sometimes sing to him and rub his back then sneak out of the room one he falls asleep.
