Sending you more hugs trixi282. I'm sorry that it grew again but I am glad that it wasn't a substantial growth. Keeping my FX that you won't need another procedure on Friday. Thank you for updating us. You and nugget are always in my T&Ps.

trixi282, Still more thoughts with you. I'm so glad your work is being accomodating (that would stress me out!). I'm sorry that it did grow. Didn't you mention at the beginning that these masses tend to taper off/stop around a certain week mark - 25th was it? You are getting so close to that as well so I'm hopeful that it will slow it's progress soon for you guys. You are handling this so gracefully. You really are amazing girl.
Again if there is anything at all I can help with - I will in a heartbeat.

With the cystic portion of the mass, there is typically a tapering off of growth where it at least slows dramatically. And sometimes it stops growing between 25-28 weeks... so we still have up to 5.5 weeks to go before we hopefully see that plateau.
With the solid portion of the mass (the portion we're still awaiting test results for), that is less likely but still possible (I'm not holding my breath). The solid portion is our bigger concern at this time which is what we're really trying to control with these procedures. Just trying to keep it at a manageable size until baby is born... and really while we're unsure of what the heck it is too.

It's likely I've missed or lost track, but did they give you any idea of when your tests might show more of an idea what exactly that portion is?

I haven't been on here much in the last few weeks but I have been trying to stay on top of your updates and I just wanted to let you know that you and your little nugget are on my mind and I'll continue to send lots of prayers and good vibes your way. I'm sorry to hear that the mass continued to grow Please keep us posted on how things go on Thursday. We will be praying for you!
cookiesandwine, we're supposed to (hopefully) find out this week.
They took the sample on the 4th, and said it would likely be 2 weeks before they had results... 2 weeks is Wednesday this week. So I'm hoping we know by at least the end of the week.

Oh my, Trixi & Nugget. You are going through so much, and you are showing such strength! I'm thinking and praying for you often, and I'm so thankful for your updates. HUGS!
Thanks so much for being so candid with all of us internet gals! I am thinking about you and baby often and pray that everything comes back as you wish. Also praying that you don't have to go to the OR on Friday again.
Testing results came in from the fluid they extracted during the thoracentesis procedure 2 weeks ago!! The genetic counselor called with the results, since although it's not a genetic defect, she was involved since our first appt (University you know... always collecting data).
The chromosomal testing all came back normal, so we now know that we don't have to worry about any additional issues in that aspect.
She also said that the AFP (Alpha Fetal Protein) that they tested for came back within the normal range for this stage of development. They were looking for levels that were high to allude to a Teratoma. There's no set number that says yes/no for Teratoma, but the levels would have been elevated, so she said that since we're in the normal range, her take on the numbers is that it's very unlikely that we are dealing with a Teratoma. She is almost certain that the solid portion of the mass is the BPS that the MFM Doc suspected.
She said MFM Doc can tell us more on Thursday since she's the real expert, but that she was happy with the results.
Overall this is good news, and I'm happy that we're getting some positive news along the way!
that sounds like a great update! Does that make your next steps easier?
Hopefully yes. This was definitely the news I was hoping for. The Teratoma had a more "bleak outcome" in MFM Doc's words, so this is really good.
We still need to keep an eye on it, obviously, because the size is the main concern with putting pressure on the heart and lungs. But not being a Teratoma it sounds as though it's much more positive for baby overall.
ETA: I'll definitely be asking the doc for more info on Thursday, but at least now I believe we can stay away from some of the "additional procedures" she had mentioned to us when we first met, that included having to go out of state for one potential procedure because no one in MN or close by even DOES those procedures! So hopefully that is completely out of the picture, and off the table now.... I won't get into details, but it was a very intense surgical procedure.
