Ok, I've decided to stretch myself and go away for the weekend with my sisters and their friends. Four hour drive followed by weekend at a lake house. Any good travel tips? Items I'll wish I'd brought besides the obvious?

We're doing our 4th weekend away this week, so I've got this down to a science.
For the journey: Prepare yourself for the car ride to be much longer than 4 hours due to time needed to stop and nurse, tend to screaming infant, etc. If possible, sit in the back seat next to the baby. It's amazing how much you can do with a pacifier, singing, etc to prevent a If you've been pumping or supplementing with formula then bring a bottle - it will save time.
Packing: I bring very little diapering supplies: diapers, wipes, diaper cream, portable changing pad clothes (2-3 outfits per day) spit cloths swaddle blankets portable bassinet/newborn sleeper/rock'n'play (something to sleep in) pumping supplies cooler for breastmilk bottles pacifiers
I'm just cleaning today in preparation for out of town guests who are coming tomorrow and staying the weekend. I've only made a small dent in folding the laundry I was complaining about yesterday.
DD and DS were both up a bunch last night. I think DD is going through a little growth spurt and needed to eat more. I think DS was just being difficult. DH is home tonight, so I get some help!

vivela to add to freckles list I would bring my k'tan and my nursing pillow. Just think about what your day looks like at home and pack whatever makes your life easier. I tend to over pack, but I'd rather have something and not use it than to not have something and really miss it. Have fun!!
babyzebra I feel you on the folding! We had 2 baskets, the dryer and my dresser full of clean laundry that I finally got around to folding today!
vivela everything above. We just went out of town and the carrier was a must. I shouldn't have brought the stroller.
Yes I forgot! I do bring a carrier. I skipped the Boppy though... don't really use it much past 2-3 weeks since he can support himself a bit better and we're more practiced at nursing.
Two month appointment today- O is at a whooping 8lbs 15oz. It cracks me up that some of your nuggets came out that big/bigger. LOL. He is at the 2% for both weight & height- but following his own curve nicely. Not shabby for a 37 weeker.
Survived 4 days of solo parenting while MH was traveling for business. Holy cow. Hats off to single parents. We do it again next week...

Do we need a 2 Month Stats thread already?!
Yeah O, on his own curve! And yeah, solo time is no joke.

DD will not sleep this afternoon. She's so crabby and tired, she's been nursing every 2ish hours/on demand so I know she's not hungry. What do you guys do when your littles need to sleep but won't relax and sleep???

Sometimes a bath works for mine. The bath itself makes him wiggly and awake, but afterwards when he is clean, dry, and warm he tends to be more relaxed.

Babywearing. With dd1 I'd have to fight to get her in the carrier but then she'd be out in 5 min. Dd2 just goes straight to sleep in about 30 sec

Babywearing or continued time on the boob with the hope that he'll fall asleep and take the transfer to another surface.

It's funny you mention a 2 month stats thread cause I was just thinking I needed to start one! Lots of early babies around here!
To celebrate my 30th birthday today I went all out--brushed my (dirty) hair, put on mascara & lip gloss and took the baby out to frozen yogurt with my SILs and nephews. Not exactly how I'd pictured it earlier (I had dreamed of a cocktail) but when you're running in an hour's sleep it's just what I needed.

Happy birthday!! The big 3-0. So sorry about the cocktail, but frozen yogurt sounds pretty awesome.
