My loves, I deactivated my FB account. I just saw my last BS racist post and don't see them slowing down anytime soon, in light of all the ugliness that is happening. Not to mention I need to do some real soul searching and aside from our babies it's not very uplifting. I might create a new account for the sole purpose of J14, but I'm making a promise to myself that it won't be until I get my work mess figured out. Tell my girls that don't come here anymore that I love them and they aren't rid of me that easy.
Sorry to be cryptic, I'm typing one-eyed and one-fingered sideways in bed. 😉
I've been blocking/hiding all he BS crap coming along on mine. It's all from DH's extended family in upstate NY. Don't think they'll be voting for Hillary. So many times I've wanted to post a missing the point picture for them.
Yes - ideally I won't be back until after the election. I am so tired of the negativity and ignorance. I have family members that are blatantly being racist. Here's the thing: if you are racist, own up that you are racist. Don't post racist shit but defend why it's not racist.
Case in point a cousin posted pic of a black family holding guns being justification of criminality. From the SAME PERSON who defends guns rights and would consider a white family holding guns PATRIOTIC.
?!?!?!?!?!?
So what that said to me is: it's okay for white people to own guns, but black people can't.
What drives me bananas is that white people who don't understand white privilege is a real thing are practically insulted by the thought of it, therefore make everything about them... BLM =/= BLM More. It means they are viewed differently, and those that deny it are those who have experienced nothing but their privilege.
I remember a co-worker telling me once about how she worked at a video store and someone called in to ask if a certain movie was available and she said to hold and she would check. She still had the phone to her ear and heard the guy say "yeah, if this n*gger can even read". I cannot imagine having my intelligence insulted like that purely based on the color of my skin.
rlb, I've always thought it was interesting that over time, all the equal rights movements (and abolitionist movements, too) involve a lot of women. I think (unfortunately) we end up knowing (somewhat) what it feels like to be looked down on just because of who we are. Obviously this isn't a direct analogy, but just something I think about.

I miss you already! I'm ready for maternity leave so I can actually interact with everyone, more. I feel like I'm just on autopilot right now trying to make it through each day and focus all of my time on S since I know it's our last time for it to be just us......and Im missing so much with everyone here!
liziz & @zerozeroone you are totally right about women being advocates because we know. I get so frustrated with the 'boys club' at my company and I know it's wasted effort. As for the pay gap- I have a personal example: I was heading my Dept for 2 years before DH came on board to head his (granted our depts only consisted of us- but still, we are the ones managing the needs). He was hired in at $14K more than me, with bigger commission opportunities. Our education level is the same. That was bittersweet- of course I was happy for him, but felt like WTF for me. Granted that is nothing compared to being racially profiled for traffic stops & purely existing, but it's something.

H and I are at the same level in our company though different departments, but he didn't go to college (and I did). He currently makes about 20% more than I do. He got a "new dad" raise, basically, while I was stuck pumping in my office working my ass off to keep my kid alive, my work done, and my family together. Admittedly he's much better at and more committed to his actual job than I am, but still!
