Is anyone out there!?!?
Now that it's almost time for second birthdays... What are you all planning on getting your LOs? I'm giving all of my ideas for smaller gifts to family, but I'd like to get a bigger gift for her and don't have any ideas.

Good question. I was thinking a balance bike but DH plans to just remove the pedals on one of our bikes or trikes (we already own 4!).
I suggested Mrs. Potato Head to MIL. I have some ideas for my folks if they ask. No clue what from us. She is super into baby dolls it we have it all due to DD1 - stroller, tub, potty, high chair, cradle, I guess we can use a couple more outfits.
I wish DH would get a swing set/slide, but I don't see it happening.
I got him a couple Usborne books a while back that I've had stashed. DH got him an old school little people train at a consignment store last weekend. We are keeping it small. The toys are already taking over.
Don't know what we will ask for from grandparents yet. Maybe a renewal of his highlights magazine and some outdoor toys.
Grandma already spoiled Max with a ride in car as an early present. We've got him a toy tram because he loves the ones in town. It matches the type used so i think he will love it.

I read this as "ride in a car" and I was confused... like, wow! That kid is easy to please! Lol.

We are specifically requesting practical things because we are mean parents who hate clutter so we will be getting her or asking for bed rails and new bedding.
We're looking for a balance bike. My mom bought her a set of Lincoln Logs - probably a bit advanced for her but she does love building things and no one asked me, lol! I'm thinking she would also like a play kitchen or dollhouse (toddler scale, not tiny). Stuff for pretend play like play scarves and dress up clothes.

I'm thinking either a balance bike or a bitty baby. The bike may be too advanced for her. Physically she's really just getting into her y-bike. I may wait for Christmas on that. And the bitty baby may help once her little brother is here... So I guess bitty baby it is! Unless DH can come up with something better.
If you are looking for good ideas I would suggest a tablet. A few months ago when I went to verizon to upgrade, the sales guy talked me into getting a tablet for DS. Well I thank God everyday that I listed bc that tablet is heaven sent. It is the best for when we go to the mall bc it keeps him occupied so he doesn't run around like a lil monkey. And when he is being kind of cranky...I sit him down with his tablet and he explores all the apps and electronic books.
Also...and this is the best part....it is actually teaching my son!!! He already counts to 20!!! And this is all do to the apps...I haven't taught him anything! He is also starting to learn the phonetics to the letters. Like he can say "L is lalalala". I am blown away.
After mentioning the miracle of tablets to some of the moms I know IRL, one of them said that many of the "good schools" (in our area) are using them in kindergarten to teach math and reading.

H is building her a play kitchen. She got some doll accessories from family, pots and pans for the kitchen, dress up clothes, books, one of those 4 in 1 tricycles.

My mom is getting him a Little Tykes slide and a kiddie pool. I'm debating art supplies: either those magic Crayola markers that only write on the special paper or just big crayons.
I'll also get him some new books and maybe a new puzzle but I'm keeping it pretty small since my mom is spoiling him.
Oh hey, stranger danger alert but due to an Amazon hiccup I have a $200 play refrigerator new in the box sitting in my garage. Yours if you want it!
Super dumb question... is it just a refrigerator? We don't have much space for lots of large toys in our newest abode.
also, stranger danger alert...any chance you are attending a semi large country music event near my area this weekend?
Yes just a refrigerator. I don't know why anyone would spend $200 on a toy refrigerator! And no, country is not really my jam... but it's almost fair time!!

We're getting a Little Tikes trampoline and that's pretty much it. Maybe a puzzle or a book, too. My mom has already bought too many big toys. I'm going to have to convert my guest room into a play room any day now...
