I met my BFF at the Cheesecake Factory for lunch today. LO was very good and slept the whole time. I was hoping to shop a little (CF is at the mall), but I didn't want to push it and went home. I love getting out of the house, even though it's a huge production.
vivela laying her on her belly on my arm gets those stubborn burps out every time. A lot of the time without even patting.
+1 to quickly being taught that peeing everywhere is NOT exclusive to boys.
As for us, we're in the mountains! LO did AMAZING on the way up. She slept the first 2.5 hours before waking up to eat and be changed, then went right back to sleep for the last hour. Today we went to Tweetsie and she slept through most of that as well. I was so nervous about vacationing with a baby but so far so good!
I've been getting headaches every afternoon that last all evening. I don't know if it allergies or something else but it's super annoying and I've been trying to avoid meds but gave in tonight and took ibuprofen. I know allergy meds are out while BF and I really don't want to take meds daily or have these headaches daily. I've been drinking a lot of water so I don't think it's dehydration.

I've had headaches pretty consistently for the past 6 weeks although they have gotten better in the last two weeks. My blood pressure was high which seems to have been the cause, it's gone down now. Are your headaches located in a particular location? Pain in the Back of the head can indicate an issue with high blood pressure. It seems to be resolving itself in my case but I've taken a lot of ibprohen over the last weeks and typically to try to avoid taking meds for headaches.
vivela this is going to sound weird and it's kind of hard to explain but you could try this: use your thumb, pointer and middle finger. Start at the bottom of the spine, use light pressure and kind of tickle upwards. If baby wriggles, continue doing it until he burps. It's weird but it seems to work. One of the LCs suggested it to me and it helps DS burp but not spit up as much.

You can take Zyrtec while breastfeeding with no supply issues.
sandandsea I also try to avoid meds especially while pregnant or BF but sometimes its necessary or worth it to be comfortable. Right after delivery I developed hives and the Dr recommended claritin or zyrtec. I was hesitant but they are both safe while BF. I have been taking Claritin daily with no supply problems or effect on DS. I do take it in the morning after I nurse to minimize the amount DS could possibly get. But Dr told me the amount found in breast milk is extremely low.
Thanks guys. Only Claritin d and Zyrtec d work for me and the d is the bad part while BF.
From what I've read pseudoephedrine (the D part of those meds) can decrease supply in a small percentage of BF women, but that many women don't notice a difference at all and those that do regain their supply quickly after discontinuing the med. Kellymom and Mother's Milk (I trust these sources) both have articles on it. So unless you're worried about your supply it may be worth weighing the pros and cons.
