Question about Donor Eggs (all welcome)

After several failed IVF attempts our RE is suggesting donor eggs.  He suggested a donor IVF cycle however also mentioned there are frozen eggs that we could choose from.  I looking at fa.ir.fa.x egg bank and they send 6-8 eggs, then guarantee at least one embryo.  If you did donor eggs, how did you choose?  I like the idea that we are guaranteed at least one embryo.  With the fresh cycle things could go wrong, although you could get more embryos from a fresh cycle.

Hi lillee I'm sorry you find yourself here but know the ladies can give some great insight. We did a fresh cycle with a first time donor, mainly because we wanted PGS testing. We ended up with 10 PGS normal embryos from 1 cycle. We used H..appy Begi..nnings for our donor and had a very good experience. Please reach out if you have any questions I can help with.

My clinic's shared risk program gives up to 6-1:2 fresh donor cycles at the exact same price as up to 6 frozen donor cycles. So because the fresh cycles had the potential to give a lot more eggs than the frozen cycles and we want 2-3 children, we went that route.

We ended up with 12 eggs and 21 eggs from our 2 fresh donors.

If the frozen guarantee program had been the same price as the 1:3 fresh program, it would have been worth doing depending on your position in the match because the 3rd recipient is likely to get fewer than 6-8 eggs.

lillee, my H and I used fair.fax and am currently pregnant with twins. I liked the idea of frozen because I wasn't comfortable relying on a complete stranger to take their meds as directed. And trying to sync cycles just sounded like a nightmare I wasn't ready to deal with. I found the whole process with fair.fax to be simple and quick. Choosing the right donor for you is the hardest part.

PGS testing was not important to us but I certainly understand why it is to others. That is something to consider when choosing between fresh and frozen.

I should add, we got 8 eggs of which 4 made it to day 5 blasts. We transferred 2 and have two left.

lillee, I'm gonna tag meepmeeps for you. She used a DE guarantee program. Her first cycle didn't work out the way it should have and under the guarantee she's cycling again right now.

We're using My!e.gg bank through my clinic, RBA in ATL, which is the founding clinic, but there are several affiliates.  We get guarantee of 2 high quality 5 day blasts.  My first set of eggs only produced one, which did not end well, but we're scheduled for transfer Sat with our new donor and we got nine eggs that should be fertilizing now!!!  My RE says stats are in high 60's success with one, in 80's after 2nd transfer, and in 90's by third.  He also said that usually, about 1/2 of cycles result in > than 2 embryos.  There's also a cycle till u bring home a baby guarantee, or you can get money back.  Just msg me if you need more info and good luck.
