I just thought I'd ask, what is everyone's plans to do cow's milk? I haven't started yet at 11 months and a week, aside of a few sips from brothers cup. We are still nursing and doing bottles when I work. I'm thinking about adding a bit in a cup at lunch and or dinner soon.

I bought what I hope is my last can of formula this weekend. She eats quite a bit of dairy now and seems fine with it. I'm hoping to start mixing 1/2 formula and 1/2 whole milk. I think the taste adjustment is probably going to be the bigger issue for her.

E is 12 months 1 week. We started about 2 weeks before his first birthday. Just offering cows milk at meals with formula in between. Then when we ran out of formula it was all cows milk
Now we are in the process of dropping all bottles so that he just drinks milk at meals and snacks
Still have a month for us. C has had milk from our cereal bowls though. Once he hits 12 months and formula is gone he will have organic whole milk. We don't transition, we just switch.

We got the go ahead at DS2's 9 month appointment to introduce it. He typically gets a sippy at dinner and another one as a "snack." I plan on getting down pumping sessions so he starts drinking more milk at day care too. He didn't do anything special like mixing it. Just gave it to him.
DS1 had trouble with regular cow's milk so we drink almond milk.
I'm starting tonight! I'm hoping to just replace one bottle a day and not have to but any more formula. I'm going to give him his first bottle of milk tonight and see how it goes. If needed I'll mix.
A just turned 11 months and I'm going to wait until she turns one next month to transition...we have a busy few weeks ahead with a lot of visitors so going to hold off until we're back in our normal routine to change things up for her - I will be dropping all bottles at the same time as well.
In case anyone is interested, this is the schedule I got to follow

I'm glad to see all of the ideas. I will probably start giving some milk at meals in the next few weeks. Are you guys still feeding purees? I have been sending them to gma's twice a week but I don't think she needs them. I was thinking about giving away the remaining jars to someone who needs them.

As per our pedi, we started introducing WCM at 10 months. June 15 - first week in July, she got 1 bottle WCM at daycare, and 2 bottles of BM; July 7 - July 29, 2 bottles WCM, 1 bottle BM; starting in August all WCM at daycare. Still breastfeeding in the mornings and evenings, and as needed/ available on weekends. Daycare had mixed the BM and WCM for the first week (on their own– I had not told them to), but then stopped. She had no issue with cow's milk. She was already eating a massive amount of yogurt before this anyway.
We're done with any purees, unless it's a chunky mash (guacamole, hummus, etc) that she can use as a dip. She likes food she can hold and feed to herself. She also still gets yogurt, and drinks it like a smoothie, or sometimes uses it as a dip.

We have been cutting day formula with whole milk.
Right now: 8-9 oz formula when he wakes up. Milk/formula in sippy with snack, lunch, 2nd snack, and supper. 9 oz formula before bed.
We leave out his water and he drinks that when he wants.
I'm hoping the last container of Costco formula is our last and DS is fully on milk the first week of Aug.
Eta: the straight formula is in bottles. We will drop the morning bottle at 12 months and use a sippy. We'll keep the night bottle for once I'm settled back into my work routine around mid Sept.

We have been introducing WM over the past month. Mainly trying different sippy cups as snacks throughout the day. I would really like to be done with formula soon, but honestly feel nervous about it for some reason. I also feel like I don't want to stop bottles, I love the snuggle time, M just gazes into my eyes/face the whole time. I know I need to do both and should have I done before I go back to work in September but it gives me the sads, FFMC
Me: 39 DH: 39 DS1 born Sept 1999 Married Nov 2010 TTC 2010 2011 BFP ended in ectopic RE Aug 2014. Unexplained infertility Sept 2014-Dec 2014 fermera/IUI/TI BFN's
August 16, 2015 baby Boy M is born and our hearts melt!
No clue what to do...she still nurses, and has milk intolerance (blood in her diapers or massive throwing up when I eat even small amounts of dairy.) so, not really looking forward to giving her dairy directly. I'm also suspicious of a nut allergy, but that's not confirmed.
I nurse when I'm with him, but started WCM at just after 11 months because I wasn't pumping enough to feed him so I was using whatever I pumped and mixed it with WCM to wean him over 2 weeks. By 11 months and 3 weeks we were 100% wcm in straw cups only with 2 nurses before bed and nursing on the weekends with some milk cups mixed in to skip a nurse here and there.
I feel so clueless. Jake is just over 11 months. He has 3 bottles at DC and I nurse him in the morning and before bed. Should I mix BM with WCM? He's had plenty of dairy so I'm not worried about an intolerance, I just worry he'll notice a difference in the taste and refuse it. Also, do you guys warm up the WCM? Jake has never had cold/cool bottle. He doesn't even like cold water but will chug it if it's room temp. I still plan on BF in the morning and at night past 12 months so I'm wondering, really, when to tell DC to start w WCM/mixing.

hiimjamie, I've always just given it to the boys without mixing, cold. A lot is going to dependent on whether or not they like the taste and temperature. Some kids need it to be mixed and then BM/formula reduced in stages so they get used to the taste. Same with the temperature. So really, all you can do it try and see what happens.
Both of my kids didn't care about the temperature or the taste.
I would ask your ped about when you can introduce.

Thank you!! I'm going to call and see if she thinks it's ok to start a few weeks before he's 1. He doesn't go for his 12 month appointment until a few days after his birthday. I'm worried about my supply, I only have like 8 bags in the freezer and I'm pumping just enough, somedays not enough.

hiimjamie, Our ped gave us the go ahead at his 9 month appointment but I've seen other folks mention their peds have a strict 12 month rule. Our house doesn't drink cow's milk (DS1 has an intolerance) so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it.
Hopefully he/she oks it to have you a little relief.

There are lots of things you can do with baby purees!
I have candy molds that I fill with puree and freeze. They're soft and squishy and tasty for all the kids.
Baby food pancakes! Use up leftover infant cereal and purees. I make a big batch and freeze them. Great for meals or snacks.
Sneak it into spaghetti sauce (carrot or squash), scrambled eggs (I like sweet potato), or smoothies.

She's ok with it! So last night I tried to give Jake an ounce of WCM mixed with an ounce of BM. Just to see. He spit it I my face. I warmed it up. He spit it in my face. Oh boy... LOL
skinandbones, is your pedi at all concerned about fat and protein intake? I know everyone doesn't have to drink WCM, it's just an easy vehicle to get them a high fat-protein food source. I'm trying to figure out what to do for DD2. DD1 just had BM until 14 months old when we were sure she had outgrown her intolerance. But DD2 has definitely not outgrown hers and my milk supply has dramatically decreased the last few weeks so I'm thinking I need to start transitioning her to something. I was considering an almond/coconut blend since the coconut adds a bit of fat. She also loves avocado so I'm not as concerned about her fat intake from diet, but she's not a huge fan of meat so I worry about protein. Are there any other foods that you focus on to help make up for that?

If memory serves correctly, he mentioned gets additional fats through regular food. DS1's weight, growth, and milestones have always been on point so, honestly, we haven't paid much attention to it.
Our ped regularly stresses the importance of fish and yogurt. All. The. Time.
skinandbones that makes me feel better. DD1 doesn't drink milk, but she eats tons of yogurt and cheese so she's good on dairy sources of fat. But DD2 can't have any of that so I've been stressing about what to feed her. We haven't tried fish, maybe she'll like that
We haven't even started and B turned 1 last week. He has an appointment this Thursday and I'm debating starting before that or not. Last time at 10.5 months she was very adamant not to give it to him before his appointment (which was supposed to be on his birthday but got moved back) and I'm not sure if she was adamant about the one year part or the I need to see him again part.
When I do start should I mix or just give it to him?
