I want to go to the beach but I really want it to be a good experience for DS and I don't know if he's a little too young. So *maybe* there's a beach trip in store for us today.

GOmamab15 are you talking about your newborn or do you have another son? I want to go to the beach so bad! But I've thought DS is to young too! When do they start regulating their body temp better? Immediately? Or after a few months? I do have a beach trip planned when he will be almost 10 weeks. I'm hoping that will be okay!! Also any suggestions on sunbrellas or shades? There was an easy pop up one I was recommended on Amazon, but I've since forgotten the name.
manybellsdown, I am so so sorry!! I hope she feels better soon. So sad.
I've taken DD to the pool in the Texas heat and sat in the shade with her with a little fan that I got on Amazon (that DS has now broken!) She seemed fine, but the other day this lady came over and asked me how old she was then asked if "I should really have her out in the heat this young?" UM, not your baby. However, it did make me paranoid that she was too hot....:/
Having a play date with several friends today. I'm agonizing over whether to buy this dining room table that's on a sale at a furniture store near me. I've been looking for a new table for forever, but I'm surprised how expensive it is for a wood table and 6 chairs. I guess it makes sense, I've just never bought one before (it's $1100). We have a dining room, but we converted it to a play room, so our table is currently in the "breakfast nook" area. My only concern is that the table is SO big/long, but we would keep it for a very long time and probably eventually have an actual dining room again. I love the table so I'm trying to talk myself into it, the sale ends today. I also don't want to make an impulsive buy that isn't smart.

DS slept woke up at 1:22am for his feed and then slept until 6am!! I could not believe it! I feel so awake, alert, refreshed! On other subject I'm kinda annoyed at his pediatrician office. I wanted to book his 8w appointment last time I was there but they didn't let me cause I hadn't yet received his insurance card. So I call yesterday to make his appointment and they can't fit me in til 8/29 when he should've been seen by 8/16. That's almost 2 weeks longer to get his check up and vaccines. I'm gonna keep calling to see if they have a cancellation.
Damn dog ate my mother love nipple cream. Bought more Sunday and he ate it again last night! Seriously dog?! I'm going to have to change my name it nodogs2kids!
2dogs2kids , I'm not laughing because the cream is like gold and not super cheap, but lol, oh dog. Does he get the top off?!
So funny story is DS was playing with it, dropped it and broke the top. It still kinda of worked so I kept it. Then he did the same exact thing with the second one. So it made it easier for the dog to open them! I guess I need to find a better place to leave it.
This dog drives me insane but also makes me laugh! Like seriously nipple cream? If we leave the bathroom door open he will grab the end of the toilet paper and run around the house with it. He's crazy!
pbandj714 Don't you love when you have to leave dog vomit or something equally disgusting lying around for hours because you just can't get to it?
txmommy14 It still amazes me how much people feel entitled to comment on parenting choices. I went to lunch with my sister, mother, and grandmother when DS was five weeks. I was in the bathroom and a woman asked my sister how the baby was, thinking it was hers, and then said, "wow, you REALLY have a baby that young out in public?" Don't worry, we aren't passing him around the restaurant. And I'm not sequestering myself inside my home for three months. MYOB!

txmommy14 I had a woman in the grocery store say something similar. Umm, so I'm not supposed to go grocery shopping until he's older? I had him in a sling and all that was poking out was his nose! As vivela said, I wasn't passing him around!

I'm going to try to get out of the house today, but we'll see if I make it. I got baby fed, dressed, me fed and dressed and now she is eating again. Hopefully when she's done we can go.
Question for you guys- I have never suffered from heartburn particularly, even only a few times during pregnancy. However, I have been getting heartburn like crazy for the past weeks. Do you think it's something to do with being pp?
We went for a walk. I need to go to Target and make cookie dough. I need DS to go to sleep to make the cookie dough though. He was just asleep, but I moved him and now he is up.
We took C to the beach last week and he was fine. We set up a beach tent so he stayed in that the whole time and I nursed him more frequently than usual to make sure he was hydrated. I stripped him down to his diaper so he stayed cool enough and he really just slept the whole time we were there.
Put a call into the pedi this morning after three nights of distressed reflux baby. He is calling in Zantac for him. Thank goodness, I was afraid they'd tell me to stop eating dairy and call back in two weeks or something. I'll eat whatever they tell me to... But I want the baby to feel better now. He's exhausted. Watching a tired baby try to sleep when he can't is just so sad. His eyes will close, he'll manage 15 minutes, then he starts to cry in his sleep and eventually wakes up. He even has little circles under his eyes. In other news, it is our wedding anniversary. DH has to work tonight, so we don't really have plans. My inlaws are coming this weekend and keep offering to babysit so maybe we will do something then. I am not super excited about leaving the baby alone with them. For people who raised two kids of their own they sure seem fairly incompetent with babies.

I'm talking about my brand new newborn, if we go we'd make it a short trip and most likely stay in the moby wrap. I wonder about sun shades too-- I always see people struggling with them and blowing over but maybe it's just more windy where we live.
I'm glad you're getting Zantac vivela ,I hope it relieves the pain &'let's everybody sleep.
woodengirl07 Thank goodness my heartburn went away once I had the baby. (Knock on wood) FX your heartburn is short lived.
Yay for sleep but boo the delayed pedi appointment princessisadora !
Sorry about the unruly dogs 2dogs2kids , & pbandj714 , my puppy's huge bag of dog food isn't agreeing with her so we keep finding diarrhea by the back door (she doesn't really bark just whines under her breath so we don't hear her) we were hoping her & the other dog would eat the rest of the bag so we wouldn't have to waste it but after it happened again last night I'm ready to toss the food and get her the kind I know she likes. DNW to clean up any more poop tha n I already am!
vivela happy anniversary! Hope your LO feels better soon.
I'm taking a beach trip the last week of August before going back to work. I haven't been to the beach in a long time and I'm really uncertain about what to take. Im definitely going to get one of those tents you guys posted. Also I'll get the baby a sun hat and we'll take a cooler for bottles of milk, and beverages for me and DH. Other than that am I missing anything? We don't usually go to the shore, but DH and I wanted to take a vaca this summer and didn't feel confident enough to take baby on a plane. So we planned for a week in Ocean City, MD and we'll drive instead.
vivela, hope the Zantac makes your baby feel better. We were told it could take 5-7 days to start to take effect but we started noticing a difference just after a couple of doses.
I've spent the morning trying to put a sleepy baby to sleep. I'm leaving her with DH in a bit to go to a dentist appointment. I've never been so thrilled to go to the dentist. Afterwards I'm going to get lunch alone and do some window shopping.
It's supposed to be 88 degrees here today, no one including me has air conditioning here, our house is going to be a furnace.
The last few days I've brought lo in bed with me when he wakes up around 5am. I lay him on his side and breast feed him laying down then he sleeps with me till 6:30. I love that he falls right back to sleep and we get a little cuddling in the morning.
Other random... I went and saw an lc yesterday. She suggested I clamp part of my Breast while breastfeeding because I have a fast flow. It made a huge positive difference with breastfeeding, but now I have a clogged duct. Boo. I guess no more of that.
vivela happy anniversary! Maybe you could get baby to sleep then go to dinner for an hour. Leave a bottle just in case but they should survive one hour.
pbandj714 could you lean both babies on the boppy heads facing boppy and tap on their backs? No idea.
2dogs2kids thanks for the laugh. Isn't the mother love in a glass jar? How does he get into it?
I'm officially a human pacifier. When DS isn't actively pooping, he's on my boob for the last 2 hours straight. At least I'm getting caught up here!
This happens to me too. I try the pacifier but after a minute or 2 she spits it out and wants the real deal. She then pulls and grunts and throws herself off then back on. The doctor said sometimes they just haven't learned how to relax enough to go and that helps I guess.
vivela hope that Zantac helps! It was night and day for us after a couple doses like csat said. It's so hard putting them on medicine but when I saw what a difference it made I felt better about it because I didn't want her suffering but they can't tell you what's wrong so it's hard to make that decision.
