Any tips or tricks to getting LO to take a pacifier?
Is it just something they either like it don't like from the start, or can they learn to like it?
Do different brands really matter?
Brands do matter. They have different shapes and such. Some kids won't take one, but try different brands with different nipples. Pit a little breast milk on them to make them more enticing.

Brands definitely matters. DS would only take smoothies and more specially only the orange gumdrop ones the hospital gave out. Anytime a friend had a baby I made them get me extras 😂 DD hates the soothies and so far seems to prefer the nuk ones. Works for me because I had a ziplock of about 20 that DS refused.
Brands have mattered to DD. She only really likes soothies. And it took a little while before she was onboard with taking one, but we kept trying and now it really helps her fall asleep. We would kind of wiggle it a bit or lightly touch the roof of her mouth to get her to take it.
Yes to brands matter. Both of my girls only like Soothies. I wish they liked the cuter ones! DD1 loved it from the start but DD2 is hot and cold with it. It really does help her calm down so I keep pushing it. I put my finger in the hole and wiggle it until she catches it and starts to suck. Also aim it towards the roof of her mouth to get her to notice it and feel like nursing.
Both of mine refused. I've tried 4 brands with ds2 and I've got him to take a pacifier a handful of times. I want him to take one so bad. He just plays with it instead of sucks.

My babes likes Mam the best, but "likes" is a stretch. DD would have taken anything.
When he's calmer (not already a screaming mess), he will sometimes start sucking and keep sucking when I tap lightly on the back of the paci. If that trick isn't already in your arsenal.
nymama917 thank you for your suggestion about aiming it towards the roof. I tried it today and he immediately started sucking. He only kept it in his mouth for 3 min but it was 3 min of no screaming in the car.
greysonsmom that was amazing you were totally on it!
Before I figured out where to buy them I had people steal me extras from the hospital. DS was and is still a pain, they are the only ones he likes. He turns two next week and I think it's time to give them up.
