txmommy14 what did you ask the dr about getting the meds covered by the insurance? Our insurance won't cover them either. We paid oop for the first week ($45) since the pharmacy was trying to get it approved but they were unsuccessful. She has her follow up and we were going to ask for a different med that would be covered, but maybe we can fight?
We had to prove that we tried Zantac and it didn't work. Then her doctors did a pre-authorization letter that finally got insurance to agree to cover a little bit of it. That brought the cost down a bunch. On top of that, a Nexium rep had just stopped by the doctors office with a coupon, which brought it down more.

What meds did you try? Did they work for that week you paid?
I'll preface this with two confessions about myself. I'm a worrier and a numbers person. The past few days I've felt like my supply had taken a hit as my breasts never seemed really full and DS was eating constantly and fussing like he was annoyed and still hungry after eating. I weighed him yesterday and he's over 13 pounds now after eating. He gained 6 ounces in two days. So thankfully I don't think it's a supply problem, just a growing baby! I joked with my mom that ds1 aka kid boss will be president and little bro will be a sumo wrestler.
HAHA sandandsea so glad it was just a growing baby!
So DD has become obsessed with her hands. She chews on them all the time. Lately she has been causing herself to gag cause she accidentally sticks them too far in and every time I get a mean glare! Like mom why did you let me do that!!
Thanks for the kind words ladies. We tend to start every visit with renewed hope that he will have matured somehow since last time... But family dynamics are tough!
Yesterday DS was really tough. He cried everytime I put him down and was pretty much only happy with constant, direct eye contact. This went on for about ten hours, until around 12:30 in the morning. Then he slept for NINE hours. I guess that is the trade off? My boobs were in agony but it felt pretty damn good otherwise.

These babies sleeping 8 or 9 hrs. I can't comprehend this. I'm pretty darn happy with a 4 or 5 hr stretch. Luckily LO usually just eats and goes back to sleep. Also, super weird but she rarely pees from 10p-4a, and one time made it until 7a without peeing. It's nice since I don't do diaper changes overnight usually but so odd. She has a wet diaper every time I change her during the day (about every 2 hrs)
I keep thinking the next day will surely be better and we keep having terrible days. DS is so miserable. I have cancelled our plans or cancelled on friends every single day this week. She is screaming almost constantly. If I even lower her into the car seat without buckling her in, it takes her about an hour to recover because she starts screaming so uncontrollably. I put a desperate plea out there on Facebook and someone lent me a different brand of car seat, so I am going to try that. I am so stressed and worried about our travels over the next two weeks though. Someone recommended I try taking DD to the chiropractor, which I will try doing when we get home if the meds don't kick in. So now she's on her second prescription medication, I'm not eating dairy, I only put her down for like 5 of the 24 hours of the day, and I am completely exhausted. Poor DS has been watching TV almost constantly. Today I started sobbing because DD wouldn't stop screaming and he said, "Are you okay Mommy?" It was so sad. My grandma is driving an hour tomorrow to come stay at my house with DD so I can take my dog to the boarding place, which is like 30 minutes away (bless her).
packerfan4life I'm pretty happy with 4-5hrs too. I keep hoping for more though!! And she also usually eats and goes right back to sleep so I consider myself really lucky!

txmommy14, big hugs. My family is full of people who loooove the chiropractor for infant gastro problems, including my grandmother who used to be a chiropractor's receptionist. Anecdotes all day every day, for whatever they're worth. I hope something works for you. Did they say how long before the new medicine kicks in? Maybe you can consult with a chiro (at least ask questions?) before you go?

packerfan4life, titania, word up to 4-5 hours. Last night we got to 2.5 exactly once, and the other two stretches were a lot shorter. He eats and goes back to sleep, but he eats for an hour. So I'm not a fan of this schedule. That said, he did give me 8 hours once, the night we got back from an 11-hour drive, and it was glooooooorious. It was also my birthday. I feel like he knew. I wish I knew how to recreate it. Other than driving for days and turning older.
txmommy14 I'm so sorry DD is struggling so much. It must be beyond stressful. Forgive me for asking, but would you consider not going to PA? If DD is that uncomfortable in a car seat (and generally having a difficult time), hopefully your family would understand. I get it if you really feel you have to go, however.

Add me to the 4-5 hour club. We usually have to wake one of them though. I'm too scared to let one sleep through for fear that they'd wake up just as I'm putting the other back down. Knock on wood, they both usually go back down pretty easily after the MOTN feed so I'm happy.
txmommy14, I just want to give you a huge hug, a glass of wine, and hold your DD for you for an hour to give you a little break. I hope the chiro helps. You're so strong, mama.
For those who have mentioned the foam fan for in the car, where do you clip it to?
Also has anyone tried a cooling/breathable carseat cushion?
Don't use any cushions or inserts in the car seat that didn't come with it. They're not crash tested with the seat and could cause it to be less secure in a collision.
txmommy14 I'm so sorry. This has been such a rough start for you both. I so wish I could come over and hold your DD for a while to give you some time with DS and to yourself. Praying the new meds or the chiropractor works for you guys. You are so strong, a wonderful mom, and you will get thru this. Sending you tons of love! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
athn64 for sure, I would only buy the one that is sold by my car seat manufacturer that is approved & tested. (The photo is not the one I'd buy, just a random one that I saw while at Target that reminded me of such a product.)
Baby's getting sweaty and angry in the car lately, even with full blast AC so I'm just trying to figure out what to do short of getting a convertible carseat. But we might need to go that route soon, I've heard that they're much cooler.
pbandj714 gah I never even thought about timing middle of the night feedings with twins! You are my hero.
GOmamab15 I think the fan sticks to the window somehow. I don't have one, but I believe that is what others have said. Sweaty angry babies in the car are the worst

txmommy14 I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's issues. I feel your pain.
We used omeprazole compound for this week and it seems like it is helping. She has less frequent spit ups and less volume and is more independent. (There was a point I was holding her like 19 hours a day) The doctor today is putting her on another medication that is covered by our insurance. DH took her, so I am unsure what we are trying now. The pharmacy had to order it so it will be here tomorrow.
txmommy14 and @woodengjrl07 I really hope things start improving for you guys. Fingers crossed that the new meds do the trick. I'm glad your grandma is coming to help out tomorrow txmommy14. I hope the different car seat will make a difference too.
I think my kid is going to have killer leg muscles. If he is awake, he is kicking constantly. Me, DH, the end of his bassinet... Doesn't matter. Kick kick kick. DH and I tried to schedule sex for tonight (it's been a shockingly long time). DS is wide awake, I feel vaguely nauseated (probably from a cocktail followed by a glass of wine), and it just isn't happening. I think DH still has hopes, but nope. Bummer. Maybe tomorrow!
