We haven't really pulled out any toys for this kid. He'll get DDs old ones eventually.
ETA: we deliberately avoided any loud and light up toys for a long time. Because they're annoying.
+1. The only battery operated toys we have around here have been gifts! I also put clear packing tape on all the speakers of said toys bc they are so damn loud!!!
Does anyone have a light-up toy that their baby loves? We have a good amount of toys, but virtually none of them light up! Not that it's a necessity, but I think DS would love seeing lights.
] DS loves this! It slowly alternates colors as it gets moved.
I paid full price it looks like it's on sale. I'm tempted to get a second...
He can't actually rattle it himself yet but he knocks it around and sometimes I rattle it for him.
I wrote my master thesis and this was the title, more or less: neonatal and infant skincare.
A lot of time and research went into it. Leave cradle cap alone. Don't use shampoos that have alcohol. Don't use lotions in it. Oil can make it worse! It doesn't hurt babies. Wash hair 2-3x week and use a pH balancing shampoo for babies.
What about the Mustela cradle cap shampoo? I used it and it worked really well.
DD doesn't have it but DS had it and the Mustela products worked wonders! I switched over to most of their products after that.

You all had me curious about the pack n play so I looked up the instruction manual on Graco's website:
For the bassinet (the thing that elevates the mattress for us shorties), the maximum weight is 15 lbs or whenever baby pushes up on hands and knees. We'll be retiring ours after tonight I guess.
For the pack n play in general, it's 35 inches and/or 30 lbs max.

If you have the changer, it's 25 lbs.
Wait....the PNP max weight is 30lbs? Off to find a new one that goes up higher. We still use it on vacay with ds1 and he is 38lbs! And 38in!!!

Probably not what you're looking for, but we have some bath toys from Walmart and various dollar stores that are great. They light up either when pressed (by an adult- it's fairly difficult) or from being in contact with water. I thought they would die out quickly, but we've had them for over a year and they still work great. Bonus - no holes to gather mold like every other baby bath toy it seems. Save
How long and how frequently are you guys doing tummy time?
I aim for a total of an hour a day. Sometimes it's only 2 minutes in a session, other times 20 minutes. She loves rolling to her belly so it's hard to keep her on her back.
Oh wow. I'm seriously slacking on this department. I try to do it once a day. But forget sometimes.

An hour?! Damn. I aim for 10-15 minutes and call it good if she makes it that long without screaming. Usually takes a few tries.

I don't keep track of tummy time. Wearing counts, and I wear a lot. Whenever I put him on the blanket, I try to alternate between back and tummy each time.

Same here tincupchalice. DS won't stay on his tummy anyway for tummy time now that he can roll.
When do people start using the exersaucer/jumperoo? I didn't use it a lot with DD since she preferred being worn but DS seems to want to move a lot more and the floor may not cut it once he gets a bit more mobile.

I put DS in his exersaucer for about two minutes the other day just to see. He's tall enough for it (which made me happy) but I think he got over stimulated by all the toys because after a minute he purple screamed. I don't think he's really strong enough to do more than a few minutes anyway.
I think westiemom was going to try hers and I think birkmmm used hers.
We d Don't bring out the exersaucer last time until about 4 months or so and even then we had to put a rolled up blanket in the seat. I will probably bring both toys out around 4.5 months or so. Excited for them but also not excited - last time DD1 was our only kid so the only kid stuff around was stuff for her. Well now we have toddler stuff and baby stuff - our house is being taken over lol
Me: 30 DH: 29; Married: September, 2010 TTC #1: April 2013 Benched: May 2013 Cancer(DH) Off the Bench: September 2014 July 2015 ER low sperm count and motility(radiation side effect). FET September 1,2015. BFP 9/9/15.- 3 on the way.
We do a ton of tummy time just because he loves it though. Usually whenever he wakes up in a good mood. First thing in the AM, after his mid morning nap and during evening play time. He's also only every in two places: in our arms or on a floor mat.
Question: I can not remember where I read about infants practicing holding their arm in one particular position over and over. Does anyone know what that is accomplishing developmentally? I can't remember where I read it or else I'd go back. Dying to know. Baby I keeps raising his left fist in the air in the same position over and over. It's funny. I'm guessing it's just learning to be intentional with his limbs??
