Definitely have a head cold (thanks, sick nephew), but came to work anyway because...
MH took the day off because he's sick. Normally I'd stay home with him, but he was a real ass last night, so I'd rather be at work feeling ill than be home with him all day. ETA: Construction projects are not good for marriage.
Now I'm dealing with printer and IT issues at work. Note: I do not work in IT.
And I'm using the hair tie trick today in a lame attempt to wear ankle-length pants. It's so hot, but I didn't shave my legs today so I couldn't wear a skirt/dress.

oldbaylover1024, sorry your DH was being an ass and work is causing headaches already...Happy Monday, right?
I'm exhausted because I spent my whole weekend driving up and back to CT by myself for my nephew's birthday party. I am a walking zombie today. I'm getting my hair cut after work today, though, which is LONG overdue so I'm excited. Only downside is it means getting home really late so no nap...
I'm sorry you're feeling sick oldbaylover1024. Hopefully it passes quickly. DH and I do our fair share of construction/renovation projects since we own some rental properties. They can easily become an added strain on the marriage for sure.
Yay for haircuts dancerspose! I love the post-haircut confidence boost.
DD has been recovering from hand foot & mouth she caught at daycare. She's been out for over a week. Ugh. It also migrated to her diaper area and the pedi said this morning that she'll put her on antibiotics. I hope it works fast because last night DD was up from 1-3am crying that she she needed more diaper cream. Poor LO. I felt so bad for her. Anyhoo- we let her sleep in bed with us because she was so miserable, then after falling asleep, I wake up to a flailing kick straight to my abdomen. Overall not such a great night. Add me to the zombie-at-work group.
oldbaylover1024 Hope you and DH feel better soon! dancerspose Have fun getting a little pampering tonight! ellabee Sorry for the HF&M We had that two weeks ago and it's the pits.
Yesterday I had a girls day with my two best friends who also have LO's (1 year and 4 months). We went to brunch, saw Bad Moms & then went to Target. It was seriously the best day I've had in a long time & sooo needed.
I also have my 12 week appt. and ultrasound this afternoon! Looking forward to seeing LO

ellabee oh no! I hope you daughter gets relief from the antibiotics quickly! staz I wore capri leggings to work on Friday because I couldn't take it, and my boss made a comment about the casual wear (she knows I'm pregnant) so I'm suffering with work pants today... pivot that sounds like an awesome day you had! What did you think of Bad Moms?
+1 on construction not great for marriages. It's all well and good to get stuff done, but not when he leaves the mess for me to clean up. And no known plan for a replacement ceiling... Ugh!

I really hurt my back Friday morning in an emergency delivery at work. I then had a wedding Saturday and I'm not sure if it was the heels or what--but I was hurting all day yesterday. I feel a little better today but not 100%. I'm still sick every morning and just cannot kick the exhaustion. I'm 15 weeks and was seriously hoping to feel better by now.

dancerspose and staz - any recommendations for capri leggings? I was just thinking I should find a pair the other day. I was looking on Ingrid&Isabel but all their capri length ones are full panel. The under the belly one they have is full length.

I'm sitting in the waiting area while DS has his PT session. Someone in this building made something sweet and yummy for lunch and I can smell it. Now I want warm brownies.....

I haven't moved on to maternity leggings yet, although I probably should. I'm wearing my larger size in regular ones still. I have a pair of White House/Black Market capri ones that are actually pretty oversized (like their stuff can be) that I've had for years and love.

Perhaps a FFC but I'm wearing LuLaRoe. They are so stretchy! I just roll them up and make them capris.
flyinghorses6 I hope your back feels better!! Does your hospital let you do light duty since you injured it at work? Add me to the blump group. My shorts are soo tight by the end of the day. I'm no where near needing my maternity clothes though so I'm just super uncomfortable in my regular stuff. I just try to wear stuff that normally needs a belt.. DH got the day off today so we are shopping for a fridge for the new house. Anyone have any advice on side by side vs French? We are so torn! Love the look of French but hate the sliding drawer freezer!
Post by oldbaylover1024 on Aug 15, 2016 14:10:43 GMT -5
lovebb09 - I have a side-by-side like this one (actually, upon further inspection, I think this IS my fridge LOL):
And I hate it. The freezer is so narrow it's impossible to fit normal food (like a pizza has to stand tall - there's not enough space to lay it flat on a shelf). Buying in bulk is super limited, storing freezer meals takes serious planning due to space issues (forget frozen lasagnas and other large trays), storing breast milk was a serious PITA... If you get a side-by-side like this, I recommend buying a chest freezer for your bulk items and storage. We barely function with this fridge for our family of three. We're shopping chest freezers because there is absolutely zero room for baby food, breast milk, freezer meals (think maternity leave meals), etc.
My parents have the sliding drawer freezer and, while not ideal for organizing, it's more spacious than the side-by-side we have.

Thanks oldbaylover1024, that's really helpful! We currently have a side by side but it's counter depth so it's sooo small. The freezer is a nightmare. My breastmilk took up an entire shelf which meant no room for our costco food!

lovebb09 I guess if I worked day shift they could put me in NST/triage but at night we don't have that. Everyone just gets what they get. It just happens that I had two active labor patients already when an emergency c section came in off the street. It was just chaos added to an already busy night. Some nights I sit there with a patient being hydrated...it's luck of the draw. Hoping tonight is low key all around.

I hear you. Storing breast milk was a nightmare. This fridge is fine - it's functioning and it came with the house - so we're not buying a new one any time soon. Man, have fun. I dream of fridge shopping LOL

lovebb09, Everyone I know who has a side by side hates it because of the lack of space/narrow shelves issue. We just got a French door with a bottom freezer, and while I don't love it because of organization troubles, it *is* nice to not have frozen things fall on your feet when you jerk the freezer door too hard. (We had an old school freezer on top fridge before this.) Plus, when I open the fridge, DS can't get into things anymore! A huge bonus in my book

My tooth just chipped eating some tough bread. I wish I could have the dentist check it out but he's closed today and I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow. Ugh.
dancerspose I loved it! It was kind of cheesy but still hilarious (great cast) and hit the nail on the head when it came to parenting. Highly recommend to any mom!
I've been so lazy today. I almost feel like lately when I sleep too much overnight, I'm MORE tired that day. I just basically slept the day away only being awake long enough to eat. Oye.
I have awful allergies at the end of summer, they always start mid August and I am so stuffy, my eyes are so itchy, and I can't stop sneezing. Can I take (generic) Claritin? I forgot to message my dr to ask and I feel like I'm going to rip my eyes out and nose off. I guess I should google it. Can't do Benadryl cuz i need to go to work in s few hours. Yuck.

My H is going to Mexico for work tomorrow. Last week he said he checked the cdc and no need to worry about zika and I (mistake) nodded and went on with my life. Today a google instantly tells me zika is an issue there pregnant women who's partners travel to Mexico needs to abstain from sex for the whole pregnancy. I'm pretty pissed at his lack of diligence, but how big a deal is this? Sex is the last thing on my mind right now, but I hate that now I need to worry. I have a call into my OB, but are you ladies taking any zika precautions for travel for you or your spouse?

Fun day out with the kids, puppet show, groceries; everybody was really well behaved. Now I'm finalizing plans to drive back to my moms for a few days. I'm looking forward to the adult interaction with DH gone so I don't lose my damn mind. We have plans to go to a fair, going to go see my BFF, visit my grandparents. So excited. The rest of this week can't pass fast enough. I'd leave right now if I had somebody available to watch the cats.

What part of Mexico is he going to? The CDC says that as long as you are in an elevation area above 6,500 there is minimal risk. But regardless I would tell him to spray himself up and get tested immediately upon his return.
Is there anyway he can NOT go? I would be very worried but I would also just not have sex, as much as that would suck.
I'm sorry you have to worry about this! I would do as my dr says unless they're like too nonchalant about it. Id rather be safe than sorry honestly. Get him like 57 bug sprays with high DEET.
addymac thanks. I'm worried too and pretty upset. He's going to Guadalajara, which I believe is below the elevation limit according to the map. I'll for sure have him get tested immediately if he goes, hopefully we can find a doctor to run the test. He only found out about the trip last week and it's an "emergency" but I can't believe he just glossed over the freaking zika virus. Why am I the only adult in this house?!?!?!?

EmMilAlly - As long as he uses a deet product constantly he should be okay. He can get a blood test done at his GP upon return. God forbid he shows signs, it should be within a few days of contamination I think. The whole situation sucks. Sorry
We were supposed to go to FL for a wedding but with the pregnancy I can't fly (OB restrictions). I'm kinda glad we can't go.
