I just had a mini breakdown. Spent all morning getting the kids ready to leave the house. Get everyone in the car and it won't start. 3yo was playing in there last evening and must have left a light on. Call DH to help and he is super unhelpful. Decide to woman up and fix the problem myself. Drive the Suburban next to our van and the cables won't reach because the van battery is on the driver's side and Suburban passenger side - no way to get closer. It's raining and humid as hell, so I'm not even sure why I showered or got dressed as I am now soaked and sweating like a pig. I can hear the baby, who is being "entertained" by big brothers in the house, screaming through the window. Now I'm sobbing and have reached my breaking point point. I can't do flustered AND overheated or I lose my cool, literally and figuratively. Called people to help and everyone's battery is on the passenger side. Finally found a friend, God bless her, who can pack up her four kids and come help. She's on her way. We still may make the appointment, but I've never jumped a car, so we'll seehiw that goes.
Meanwhile the kids have all been banished to their rooms, I'm finally finishing the cup of tea from this morning that I never did have a chance to drink (come to think of it, I haven't eaten yet today either), and DH still hasn't called to check on me. He's in the dog house.
All of this on zero sleep, as fussbucket was up every hour last night. This is why I hate leaving my house. I need a stiff drink.
Ugh I'm sorry creepyeyeball! Being hot, tired, and hungry is a horrible combination! I would be so flustered and start crying if I was in that situation. That is also so wonderful you have a friend willing to pack up four kiddos! I hope you can make it to your appointment on time.
I vote that this evening, your H puts the kids to bed while you sit outside (weather permitting) and have a glass of wine in peace.
I am so sorry creepyeyeball. Those are more than enough ingredients for a melt down. I am with jags8, wine later for you while your H watches the kids.
So I put DS in the RNP for the night, and he slept so, so well. I needed that so badly. However, I dropped DH off this morning, and was heading to my office when I had a big let down. I switched from disposable, to reusable breast pads this week thinking I was safe since I never really leak anymore (not used to DS not nursing all night). They had slipped, so I had 2 giant wet spots on my shirt, and a meeting in 20 minutes. I ended up wearing my undershirt, which is a black tank top, that did not show the wet spots, to the meeting. I felt so awkward, and self conscious. 2 kids, and this is the first time I have had this happen.
Haha! I figured she would've had to given birth to a pretty large baby to have one over 20 lbs at 4 months. But 7 lb 14 oz is pretty average, I'm surprised!

I know! She chunked up super fast. She's also super tall. With a big head. She's just big all over haha. My toddler was a chubby baby and I love the rolls. My baby really doesn't have rolls.
creepyeyeball ugh, what a day! I can keep my composure infinitely more when I'm physically cool. Being hot turns a tense situation into a pressure cooker of stress! It's like my number one trigger for a meltdown. Hope you can get it running and your day turns around!

creepyeyeball Sorry for your crappy start to your day. Overheating physically sends me over the edge so much quicker if things are going wrong. I remember flipping out a few times when DD was little because I was so hot and flustered with the heat and hormones and we were sticking to each other during feeding and constantly holding her and as soon as something would go a little wrong it made me so ragey! Not fun.
Hope your day has improved significantly since your friend came to the rescue.

Thanks, ladies. My friend and I couldn't get it started so I had to cancel the appointment. Then I sent a bunch of passive aggressive texts to DH because I was mad he didn't come to my rescue, let alone text at all to ask if we got it handled. It wasn't my finest hour, but he's still in trouble. Lol
It's too hot. I'm packing my kids up and heading to my parents where they have air conditioning. As a bonus, we hit the data limit on our Internet but we can use theirs. Oh yeah, and my dad will entertain H tomorrow while DH works. If packing and driving an hour weren't such a pain I would be pretty excited.
LO is in the crib tonight which is in DD1's room. DD1... could not have been more excited even if I'd told her Santa was coming tonight. She kept telling me that she would shush LO if she cried. She told DH that she didn't want to sing songs or anything that she just wanted to go to bed as soon as they were done reading.
Hoping it goes well. I think the mattress in the crib is better for LO & her torticollis so if it doesn't work we're going to have to move the whole crib into DH & my's room.
Also. LO isn't all that big, she was 14 lbs 4 oz at her 4 month appointment. But she is a GIANT here. I told the doctor today that in the States she's only just below 50% on the growth chart but here she is huge. I saw some kids here that I'd guess were between 6-8 months old (based off their sitting/playing abilities) and LO was way bigger.
That's the #2 comment I get for LO. If someone asks how old she is they always comment on how big she is. (#1 is about her eyes - they are blue so that's not super common here)
We got a failure to thrive diganosis today. He almost got admitted. If things dont improve in next day not sure how they would he is getting admitted. I can tell I am already shutting down emotionally.

Wow, I'm so sorry. Sounds like a really stressfully named diagnosis. Did that come from the ultrasounds? Did those happen already?
The only other place I've heard of that is from the blog Growing up Geeky. I think it was her oldest daughter that was given that diagnosis.

What was their reason for the diagnosis? Weight gain issues? Not hitting milestones?

I am so sorry. I don't know anything about the diagnosis, but it sounds like something they are taking seriously. Be sure to take care of yourself as well. Hugs

He is losing. He has been on the small side for a while. He has epic spit ups. Seems digestive related but the list is long. We got an ultrasound of something in his belly today. They didnt get the best image but it looks maybe ok. We go back friday. If he hasnt gained he will likely be admitted so a gastro can see him.

Oh no, poor babe! I hope he doesn't have pyloric stenosis. My DH had that as a baby and had to have surgery to fix it.
None I'm sorry, that must be so stressful. When talking about dairy allergies with my pedi (because of spit up issues) she said babies with allergies are often given a failure to thrive diagnosis. Have they ruled out allergies? I hope you get some answers soon.

Its on the list. I have allergies and was also big spitter. I am eliminating dairy completely.

Its weird you mention it. My aunt brought it up earlier today.
creepyeyeball, I'm sorry that you had such a crappy day. The heat makes me absolutely miserable, too. I have such a short fuse when hot. I hope DH has been kissing your butt tonight!
None, I know how you feel. I went through similar issues with DS1. He didn't get the FTT dx, but he was a very slow gainer and spit up an unbelievable amount. We did an ultrasound to check for pyloric stenosis, was referred to a pediatric gastro, and had to rule out a dairy or soy allergy. Nothing ended up being wrong, that we could tell, but it was a very stressful year. Some babies are just little and slow to gain. It is not a reflection of you your parenting. I hope whatever is happening with him is temporary and/or early fixable. Hang in there!
