My mom just invited me to a concert Friday. 2 hours from home... Kinda far from the hospital for a 38w outing, haha!
I've started to think about this. How far is too far and at what point can we not go too far? FIL lives an hour away and we've been trying to go out to see him often. I plan to ask my ob this Friday.

I told my OB today that I'm driving to this conference with H that's like 4 or 5 hours drive from home. She checked me over (thoroughly, definitely the least comfortable internal I've had so far) and said she didn't think I'd be going into labor any time soon so have fun.
Of course, I'm only 36w4d, not 38w, so it might have been different. Save
danizee DD turned 20 months the day DS was born. We've only been home two nights but she's coping really well. A couple of tiny tantrums when she saw him using things she thinks are hers (like the bassinet) but she came round quickly. She is interested in him and wanted to hold his hands, but didn't want to touch him anywhere else. She took a picture of him to daycare and was very pleased to show it off to the other kids and teachers l!

I would still do an hour drive right now no problem.
Even 2 hours would probably be fine, but it's just not something I want to do. It's also more the destination/route. The 2 hours goes through a lot of not much out there. I did a 2 hour drive to a Red Sox game less than 2 weeks ago - wasn't the most comfortable, but it was fine.
Obviously talking to your OB is always best, but I would think continuing to visit your FIL wouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, I'm thinking he'll be cool with it. I think the thing that'll worry me as I get closer to my EDD is making the drive while in labor. The >10 min drive to the hospital last time felt like foreverrrr lol but I won't worry about that until I'm like a week away.

Yea I think my biggest issue with the 2 hour drive is just "What if". 2 hours isn't that far a way, but do I want to spend 2 hours in a car if I happened to go into labor while we were gone? No way in hell!!
I had my son this morning. He is healthy and happy. 7lbs 12oz and 21 inches long. I unfortunately had to have an unscheduled c section after a med free labor to 9cm. Baby boy was in a face presentation and they wouldn't deliver him that way.
