I'd love to know if you have a glider you love and recommend, if you have one you really don't recommend, or if you feel like a glider is necessary/unnecessary in general.

I have a 10 year old hand-me-down from my sister so I can't recommend a specific one as I have no idea what it is. But I did want to say that I love having a glider. Great for rocking my LO. He's 17 months now and we still use it every day for reading stories and a brief rocking before naps and bed. I will say that I got in the bad habit of rocking my son to sleep which was a very hard habit to break, but I would definitely recommend a glider.
Our glider was actually one item that we splurged on and got a nice one. I love it and highly recommend one. I do recommend trying them out in person because they are not all the same.

We have a swivel rocker/recliner. It's great for the nights where LO is sick and I need to be close. The color I picked will make it easy to move to the living room when it's tiime is up in the nursery.
I have a little castle glider in microfiber. The one I have is more structured and firm...I cannot stand up from the super cushy ones while holding a baby. I am petite so the chair proportions were really important to me. I would also suggest picking a chair you can sleep sitting up in...
We got one from Costco from the ILs. It works great. It's not pretty like some of the other more modern ones but, hey- it was a gift! It's very handy for motn feeds.

I just picked one up at Burlington Coat Factory's baby area. I highly recommend one with a back high enough that you can lean back and fall asleep on. Nursing and sleep deprivation make a parent sleepy!

Everyone's different, but for me the glider was the number 1 necessity. Mine weaned from night feedings around 14 months, which means for 14 months I often ended up sleeping in that chair. It was perfect for breastfeeding, DH used it when he did bedtime routines, and we still use it 3 years later for story time. It is the one baby gear object we own that has been used daily since the day we got back from the hospital.
We have a Best Chairs swivel glider - and I agree with testing them out. There's a foot difference between DH and I, so it was important we got a glider that would be comfortable for both of us.

Also have your SO/DH test them out too. My DH is 6'5". While in BRU he found one he loved, but then tried out others. He ended up falling asleep and went back to the one he loves because the back was high enough for him and the recliner supported his legs better.
Still trying to find a cheaper one, but if we'll have to spend $600 to make sure he's comfortable, we'll do it.
I was happy with our glider and used it multiple times a day. However, we had to take it out of the nursery when DS was ready to climb out of bed and be free in there, around age 2. There were lots of pinch points and aggressive rocking (or climbing) could tip it over. I wish we had gotten a recliner-style chair that rocks instead of a straight-up glider.
