DS is still 3.75 months, and showing no signs of readyness at all, so we will not be starting for a while. We will probably do BLW like we did with DD, and start with avocado, sweet potato, and bananna.
We will wait until we see the pedi for his 6 month appointment but then we will do BLW. We will start with avocado, sweet potato, steamed brocolli, then fruits like banana and steamed apple.
What foods are you going to try first? Avocado! DD1 is so excited because that's what we started her on so she can't wait to help "feed" sister. Waiting until she can at least sit up on her own. After all the food threads I think I'd be willing to start just a little early but only if she can sit unassisted first.
How often are you feeding him or her solids? We'll do just once a day until she's tried a bunch of different foods. We'll probably feed her in the late afternoon, before her bath time, to help spend that last bit of time before DH is home.
We started avocado last week... I'll keep doing a few spoonfuls of that each night for a few weeks and then bump it up to more. I won't start fruit till after 6 mo

Why avocado now, but no fruit until 6 months? Just curious!

We won't fully start until 6 months, but our pediatrician said to start giving her little tastes of things, so I have given her a tiny taste of sweet potato and avocado.

Just because right now I'm just doing a few spoonfuls at dinner time so I'm just sticking with the avocado (the one his pedi recommend we start with) .... No really actual reason otherwise lol
Our pedi recommends starting with several veggies before adding fruit because babies love sweets just like adults and will gravitate towards that. Introducing vegetables first might help them more long term. No idea if that is true, but my 2 year old loves vegetables and will try just about anything.

We've just started having a few wee tester tastes with LO at 4 months. I'm not ready to go full fledged into it, despite encouragement from our advisors, and I don't think he's fully ready so he's just had a few sucks off the spoon after his lunch feed for the past few days.
We started on a spinach, pea and apple blend. He seemed to enjoy it.
craftcrazymama do your pedis not urge you to try one food at a time? DS's pedi was very clear to only try one food for three days before trying another to make sure if a food could cause an allergic reaction. So if we did a blend, we wouldn't know if it was the spinach, peas, or apples that's caused it.

No one has talked to us about food yet with LO but with DD1 they said to only do 1 at a time every 3 days. I've read that isn't true everywhere around the world and isn't necessarily a huge deal in families with no history of allergies with low allergen food combinations.

Exactly.
We have no known food allergies in our immediate or extended families so here, if that's the case, they simply suggest 'neutral' foods when combining. So spinach, pea and apple are considered those types of food.
Those we avoid are things like nuts, egg, honey, really high acids initially like tomato, strawberries, citrus etc. But greens, low acid fruits and things like sweet potato and root vege are all go, alone or combined.
What foods are you going to try first? Avocado, is was DD's first as well. I have a list somewhere of what order is "good" to try foods so I will try to dig it up.
If you have started solids, what has your LO tried? Likes? Dislikes? N/A
How often are you feeding him or her solids? Will start at 6m, 2x/day after BF'ing.
