What's happening today?
Yesterday DD was playing with my phone charger and when I woke up this morning my plugged-in phone had only 2% battery. Looks like it's time for a new cord 🙄

Today...
Plugging away at work... as per usual.
I found my first stretch mark on my belly this morning and I'm kind of worried about how bad my stretch marks will get. I'm super prone to stretch marks and have them peppered throughout my body. I just really hope that it won't be TOO bad all over my belly.
DH and I ordered a glider last night from the Wayfair sale. It's gray and white, reclines, and glides. It was also hundreds of dollars less than the others I had been scoping out at various furniture and baby stores. I don't think we're at the "furnishing a nursery" phase juuuuuust yet, but it was too good a deal to pass up.
My ponies are getting their feet trimmed this morning and then I need to go to Walmart. Then home to do more laundry and start on dinner for tonight and prep another for later this week.
I don't have to go teach lessons tonight and I'm thrilled!

We are getting an entirely new HVAC system today. New air ducts, AC unit, thermostat, all of it. I am so excited. Aside from that it's a day full of meetings.
Anyone else having trouble sleeping? I am having the hardest time falling asleep, especially after a middle of the night wake up.

sweetieheart32 DS loves power cords. He has destroyed so many. We try to keep them out of sight and reach but he always find them.
loves2shop4shoes yay for a glider. I have a rocking chair from when DS was born, but I think he'll lose his mind if we put it in #2's room. So I asked for a glider this time. I really liked the rocking chair but it's not that comfy and if this baby is like DS I will be up at night with lots of feeding for many many months.

I think the only thing we need to buy is a new glider. I LIVED in that thing with J and, frankly, bought one that wasn't great quality. It was fine, but now that I know what it's like to be up all night nursing, I want something better. Can we see a pic of what you ended up buying, loves2shop4shoes? I'm curious!
My car is in the shop today. Making a loud noise from the engine (I know it's not the muffler). FX it's not serious and/or expensive.
The good news is I think we found infant care for Sweat Pea! Great price, in-home that my BFF uses, sweet grandmother-type lady, and close to home. FX this works out. If it does, we'll be paying 40% less for infant care than we did with J. And we'll have a great option at a church daycare when he's about a year old. Ugh... daycare, man... We live in a HCOL area so having two in DC (one in preschool/pre-K and one in infant care) is going to be equal to our mortgage.
We're having veggie-cheese-and-ham quiche for dinner. I love quiche.

musicallyinclined - I've had trouble sleeping, too, but mainly because of the dreams. Weird dreams, too. And when one wakes me up in the MOTN, I have a really hard time getting back to sleep. FX that passes!

I waffled a little bit, but ultimately decided to buy one with a pattern because I thought it would hide stains better when the baby pukes on it.
Oooo! I love it! Very pretty! ETA: And is that the price you paid?! Good price, too! And don't they offer free shipping?
I had a 10% off coupon, so I paid slightly less than that, and it also had free shipping. The coupon essentially paid for the tax. Wasn't bad at all...
loves2shop4shoes A glider is always good. We have four in the house: Two swivel gliders with gliding foot stools in the parlor and two non-swivel gliders (MH's old one and my mom's old one) in the babies' room. I guess we'll have to move them to the new babies' room.
musicallyinclined My trouble sleeping is usually related to waking up from some strange or creepy dream. I had three of them last night. The only one I remember had a bunch of two-inch-long cockroaches all over our bed. I think I woke up in a panic from that one.
oldbaylover1024 We supposedly live in a LCOL, but things seem to cost more than they should for the area. Weekly daycare for one baby is about $260. What is it by you?
AFM, I'm watching the clock today until I can leave, go work out at the gym, and apply for more jobs tonight.
You all got me thinking about new nursery stuff, too. MH and I have to decide if we're getting two more cribs or putting the "big" kids, who will be only 17 months old when the new ones are born, on twin mattresses on the floor. I'm afraid of not having them contained, but I'm also worried that Master R is going to be too big for his crib before he's even two years old. He's about 30 inches tall now at about 11.5 months and wearing 24 month to 2T clothing.
loves2shop4shoes Love that glider! So exciting to start shopping for the nursery oldbaylover1024 Childcare is so stressful. I'm glad you found someone you like & hope it works out!
Our in home care lady told me yesterday that she plans on not watching the other kids that she watches when our new baby comes so she'll only be watching DD, her son and the baby. She also told me that her son will be attending preschool next fall and that if we would like she can take DD and pick her up if they go to the same one since most around me are only offered 9am-12pm which doesn't work with a working mom's schedule. I cried. I want to hug her and never let her go. She is seriously amazing.
pivot That sounds like a great situation for you! I'm almost positive twinset#2 will not fit in the same daycare as twinset#1. It may get complicated or more expensive.

nomnom - Infant care per week for J cost us about $320/week (total of $1,275/month). And that was at a mid-priced center. It was... fun... figuring our finances initially. Two in care should be just a joy! At least it's only one year when J will be in pre-K at her current center and Sweat Pea will be in infant care.

It's a thunderstormy day here, so we're being pretty chill. A is drawing in her sketch pad, G is playing quietly with her trucks and little people, and in between loads of laundry, I'm scrolling through Pinterest and pinning all the Halloween ideas and recipes I'm looking forward to trying. I WANT FALL!!!!

Signed my big kid up for school, trying to get through the teething of #2 and deciding if I want to prioritize laundry or nap when the kids nap this afternoon. I'm thinking nap.
crazycatlady6 I hope you feel better soon maybe there are only a few hard days left. Hang in there!
This morning I put on a new maternity top, rockin' the haircut I got over the weekend, and even did my makeup. First thing when one of our volunteers showed up she said "wow, you look like you're not feeling well today." I'm torn between TPing a 70 year old and being flattered that she cares enough to try and say something.. as awkward as it was.

We are at $1850/month for LO2.0 and $1,265 for DD (she's $1,580 now, but will get a 20% sibling discount when Peanut starts). And this isn't even the highest priced center by a long shot. Talk about a HCOL area...

musicallyinclined, I'm also having sleep trouble but more waking up at total random intervals for no reason.
Also, side question for anybody. Anybody looking at maternity coat extenders? This is my third so I'm already on track to be huge come winter and I feel like I'll need one. I'm looking between the kokoala and the belly fit. The belly fit is cheaper and this is my last, but I figure they'd have good resale. I haven't found one second hand for myself though...
Hello! I need to email the daycare I looked at yesterday. They are only $275 for the week (and if I go part time down the line they'll let me do it without penalty). Around here that's unheard of.
Work is crazy these days so I'm just trying to hang in. But I think there's a chance I'm going to get 12 weeks maternity leave instead of only 8, so I'm THRILLED!
littleredfish Start a load of laundry, then start a nap. Finish laundry later. I didn't know coat extenders existed. For twin pregnancy, I just buy a size up from what I normally wear for the last couple of months. Do coat extenders work with maternity coats or replace them? I didn't need a jacket last time (S15 babies).
Oh wow to how much some of you are paying for daycare. We live in a low of cost living area and pay $120 a week or $480 a month per kid. It's a home daycare but when we were at center based daycare an infant was $140/week and then it decreased as the kid got older. I was thinking of asking our daycare provider for a discount since I'd have 3 kids but maybe I should just be grateful I don't have to pay much and she's willing to watch all of my kids.
musicallyinclined you're not alone. Can you take Tylenol pm or benedryl? My ob ok'd both. I use Tylenol pm after a couple sleepless nights or when I really need a good rest. I've been having a hard time sleeping, a hard time getting comfortable, and nasty dreams.
I can't talk daycare without getting panicky. It's going to be my whole paycheck. And we don't get a sibling discount until LO2 is a toddler.
littleredfish I don't know what coat extenders are. I wore a coat that was 2-3 sizes too big and was on Kohl's clearance for under $20. It worked well with my big belly. Not the warmest coat, but worked great.
puma1315 Ours is $270 per week for two kids at a home daycare with no change as they get older. I think that includes a $10 discount for the second kid. All the centers cost nearly twice as much.
Post by oldbaylover1024 on Aug 30, 2016 13:57:13 GMT -5
Our costs decrease as J gets older, so we currently pay $875/month for pre-school at the center. That's typical for our area at any center you go to. I should add that price covers all meals, snacks, and beverages.
ETA: The infant cost also included Gerber formula, but we BF so we didn't get to take advantage of that savings, and baby food (Gerber).

This is making me want to reconsider my rule of centers only.
But I'm so terrified of someone else driving my kids around.
