I just read a really interesting chapter in Osler's Expecting Better about prenatal testing and accuracy. I'm loving this book for information that feel like is hard to find.
Agreed. I thought that was a great chapter. As was the info about the drug classifications. The amount of alcohol she's comfortable with kind of floors me, though.
I was allowed 1/2-1 glass of wine (preferably red) 1-2x a week. I was only comfortable with a single half glass most weeks unless MIL pissed me off, at which time I went for the full glass and skipped the following week. Didn't allow any alcohol during first tri, by my own unwillingness

That seems totally reasonable. I can't remember what she said the studies supported but I was like "nope, not comfortable with that amount." I also abstain during first tri, but I look forward to a little wine/beer here and there as I get farther along.

I really like how she presents the info. Here is it, do what you feel comfortable with. The alcohol amount she settled on was 1 glass per day with food. That seemed like a lot to me. I hadn't thought about the alcohol is processed. It goes through my liver then to the baby's. For me, any amount into the baby's is too much so I'll be abstaining this time like I did last time. I think is always wonder if something was wrong if it was crucial developmental moment when I had a drink, lol.
