I know most of our babies will be in the infant seat for a bit, but I was thinking of taking advantage of the Babies R Us trade in event. I might be able to get an expired seat from a friend or found an old seat for $10 on Craigslist. I have my certificate from my registry to use that expires in November. Anyways, does anyone know anything about the Chicco Nextfit or suggest any other seats?
I have a nextfit that my older daughter is in. It has high sides which I like but some don't (all pass the same safety tests). It is a bit hard to get a kid in when they are bigger but still rf in a low profile car. But nothing extreme. Otherwise it's comfy and I have no complaints.
She's in a graco 4 ever in the other car and it's sleeker and technically lasts longer but something about it I don't love as much.

I don't know anything about the Chicco Nextfit personally, but I've heard good things about it. A convertible car seat is something you'll use for quite a few years, so I would do some research to make sure you get one with the features you want. I would join the FB group Car seats For The Littles. Anything you ever wanted to know about any car seat can be found in that group.
I have 2 Diono Radian RXTs for DS that I absolutely love. I've already bought an RXT for DD too and I will buy one more once she officially moves to a convertible seat. I can't say enough good things about this seat. I love how narrow it is. It allows me to fit 3 car seats across or to have a child or small adult sit next to 2 car seats comfortably. It is large front-to-back, so that could be a downfall if you have a small car or are tall.

We have a britax boulevard and Diono radian from ds1 that haven't expired that we will use. I love both seats. The radian is narrow and low profile and lasts forever. DS still uses it at 4.5 and has a long way to go in it. It's huge rf though and didn't fit in my Mazda 3.
The britax is also great and DS just outgrew it at 4.5 and he's 75% for height. They have smaller shells (which makes it great for rf in a small car) so they don't last forever and you will need a booster after. We switched DS to a 5 point harness car seat that becomes a booster.

DD is already in a convertible in my car, she definitely prefers it to the infant seat. We have a maxi cosi, eventually I move that to DH's car and get another diono. DS loves his diono.

This decision is not one I'm looking forward to. We have a tiny sedan (Honda Civic) and all the seats I've seen are so enormous. Any other recs besides the Britax boulevard for small cars?

The new graco extend to fit is supposed to be great for small cars. My backseat is pretty small though and the angle adjuster with the diono is great. Buy buy baby will let you take car seats to your car to test the fit before you buy them.

I had the nextfit it my 04 civic rear facing for a while. And I'm not particularly short. Though maybe it was behind the passenger. But it can work.

I don't know about the one you asked about but we have a Britax Marathon in our Volvo S40 (small probably comparable to a Civic) and like it a lot. We were able to read face DD (slightly bigger than average height wise) comfortably until just before 2.5. she still had room height and weight wise to remain RF of we wanted. It had about the same size profile front to back as our infant seat. It is a little on the wide side though that might be why DD is so comfy. With that and the infant seat (Cybex Aton) I can fit in the middle of the back seat but it's tight and my shoulders are basically touching both seats and I'm fairly small. My husband could not even think about fitting. We also traveled with it a number of times and it's not light but it's not super heavy either and totally manageable for travel.
