Backstory: if we're FB friends you might recall me posting a picture of a wounded bird that we found near our car at our apartment complex a few months ago. DS was so upset and the bird looked like it had a broken wing, but was still flapping around like crazy on the ground. So what the heck can I do? Kid's crying, bird is fighting for its life. Ugh. I made some calls and found a local animal hospital that allows you to surrender animals, so we loaded it in a diaper box and drove it to the hospital.
Sooooo yesterday morning (now at our house) I'm rushing around, trying to get DS out the door for school and I hear him go "MOM! THERE'S A BIRD!"
FFS. Really nature?!?!? I go out and RIGHT ON THE DAMN WALKWAY is a bird that appears to have a twisted or broken neck, staring up at me with its poor little eyes.
"MOM! WE HAVE TO HELP IT!"
GAHHHHHHH. I ended up calling animal control on the way to DS's school and they sent someone out to get it. Unfortunately, by the time the guy got there (maybe 30 minutes after I called, not long at all), it had passed away. Fortunately, DS was at school by then so I was able to tell him the man rescued it and is going to take car of it.
And this is a classic example of a morning at TMC's house.

DS has a half day today, then we're running to the store to grab a few things. Park this afternoon I think? And karate tonight. Should be a good day!
I need to finish getting the last of the random crap out of our apartment before our lease is up at the end of the month, but I just don't want to. Ugh. I need to find motivation to get it done.
I only ever sanitized bottles when I bought them or when she got thrush. Are you confessing that you sanitize? I'm missing it here.
Yes confessing that I continued to santize bottles for a whole year, knowing that the recommendation is to santize just for the first 6 months.
I didn't know the recommendation! Granted I don't use bottles often but I still sanitize teethers, bottles, and cups. Are you guys saying I can stop this?

I actually read somewhere that men get sicker (higher temps, more aches, etc) than women. ...I did not share the article with H. joi922 hope his plague heals soon.

Went to story time with ampaints this morning and then lunch. Now back to the house to clean before a construction estimate this evening. We've run into more problems at the house because of fucking course we have.

I stopped sanitizing pacifiers when she was about 4 months. I have never sanitized teethers or cups. I don't even wash her teethers...they just hang out with her toys and she puts everything in her mouth anyways...and germs.are good for her, right??
So for the past week Ava has been taking one nap a day around noon. Well all the baby story times at the libraries around here are mid day so they don't work anymore with her new schedule. So I take her to the one baby story time that is at 9:30 (and an 25 min drive away!) and the little stinker falls asleep on the way there! I haven't made it to story time since July and I really miss it!

I have the opposite problem. All the storytime/activities for their age are around 10 here. Which is right in the middle of his nap. I can't wait till he goes to one nap so we won't be messing with nap time to interact with people. Every Wednesday we get in the car around 850, I grab a coffee and 2 donuts, and I drive around for an hour while he naps just so he doesn't go crazy at the library. Hope it works for you next week.
M fought naps like a champ today. He asleep on the way home from lunch with W and packmomma. Normally he wakes up some when I get him out of the car, but falls right back asleep when I put him in his crib. Except today. Fought the good fight and finally went to sleep at 2. I was hoping to hit up Target or Kohls on the way to the in laws for dinner tonight because I desperately need more shirts that actually look decent on me. Looks like that won't be happening today.
Thanks, guys. My recovery has been going well actually. I'm still at my in laws, they are so dedicated to getting me better, I swear they are saints. I've "graduated" to personal training instead of physical therapy, I still go 3 times a week. I'm off of my walker, and my walking is slow and a bit labored, but I know that will get better with time. I can carry Jack again, that was a huge milestone for me. This disease is known to taking forever to recover, but I think I'm doing pretty well for 5.5 months.
Dude, I totally missed this. How scary. My mom had GBS in 1988. She was in the hospital for 4 months. So yes, you are doing amazing!! Years later she has residual side effects. PM me if you'd like.

Oh wow. My case is pretty mild, not that it feels "mild" most days. I can't imagine 4 months in the hospital. I spent 10 days there, while I underwent plasma pherisis. I was fortunate that it didn't go up past my midriff. I'm wondering if I'll have any residual complications, or if this is just where it ends. Still a lot of physical therapy left before I'm done.

Hey ladies. We had Kindermusik this morning, and then I worked out with my trainer. I committed to her that I'll lose 10lbs. Do not want. (to do the work.)
I ended up having to take sick leave this morning because the baby screamed bloody murder if I wasn't holding her. Stupid cold. Still made my husband take our toddler to school and to the kids' after-school playdate, despite his whining. Dude, take some medicine and stop complaining. You don't get to sleep the day away because you have the sniffles. I'll take sick leave to take care of the kids, but I'm not taking sick leave for a man cold.

Definitely not a mild disease even with a short stay! She was fully paralyzed. Her heart stopped twice, she was trached and then on a vent. She went through a lot of out patient therapy once she was out of the hospital. So now she will get random tinglings. A few times (maybe 3) she has not been able to move her feet or legs at all and that lasted about an hour once. She will never get the flu vaccine. Basically you can get it if it has been more than 6 (maybe 12 weeks) since you've had GBS but she went to get it for the first time and actually had a nurse who had GBS recommend her not get it. The nurse had serious residual complications from the vaccine.
ETA: she got down to 66lbs while in the hospital at 27 years old. Scary sick.

So now I know not to get the flu vaccine! Scary. Your mom is so hardcore going through all of that, I'm so glad that she's ok and got through it!

It's definitely worth talking to your doctor before you get it. Me too! She had me two years later and that is the crazier part lol
