A bit delayed but it's been crazy here and I'm just now writing this out.
My induction was scheduled Thursday September 8th at 9am. I was 40w6d. The night before I was having cramps but didn't think much of it as I could sleep through them. They were still there as we got ready and drove to the hospital. While getting checked in and waiting for our room I noticed my contractions were getting pretty regular. Upon using the restroom I discovered I was having my bloody show.
Once we got our room and I was hooked up to monitors I was definitely having contractions a few minutes apart. They checked me and I was 5cm. My OB basically cancelled the induction and wanted to see what my body was going to do.
Contractions really started to pick up from there and honestly I was dealing with it pretty well. Around 3:30 I hit 7cm and got my epidural because they thought I'd go fast once my water broke. At 8cm my water broke (or so I thought, more on that later lol). At 5:30 I was 10cm and complete and the doctor was on her way in.
That's when things got scary. The baby kept having heart decels. The only position that didn't cause this was on my right hand side with a excersise ball between my legs. With each contraction I could actually feel the baby slide down and it felt like he was going to pop out of me. They had me flip to my back and start pushing. I only had to push twice and he was out. My water turns out had not broken and he basically surfed out and I soaked my doctor and the floor of the room.
Turns out his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck. They put him on my chest for a moment and I cried and was so happy. He was a little lethargic and pale. They put him on a CPAP and suctioned fluid from him. After that he was fine and crying and I was allowed to do skin to skin.
Ro.wan Fred.erick was born on the 8th at 7:44pm. He weighed 7 lbs 15oz and 20 inches long.
Pics! PDQ.
