Last night was a rough night. After 2 days of sleeping 10 hours straight, S had two wake ups that he cried for a while.
I'm guessing it has something to do with AF coming and the fact that he is a tad constipated.
I've seen a couple people say this on here about AF. It impacts sleep? Can you explain? Does AF mean what I think it means??? I'm confused!
My breastmilk supply takes a huge hit when AF is about to start and the first 2 days of it. I feel like she's latched all day and still hungry, even if I eat all the milk boosting foods and drink water non stop. Maybe that's what she means.

I've had a feeling AF is coming but she still hasn't showed yet. With DS2, I had my first pp period at 5 months and I nursed until 15 months. With DS1, I got it when I was completely done nursing at 9 months. I guess I'm getting a break this time.
Yep, that is what I meant. AF showed up yesterday and now I am worried about my supply. It seems as if it may have dipped a bit.
I also think I have a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance because whenever I pump at night it is like blue Gatorade. I have no clue if this is due to AF, him STTN, or something unrelated. Anyone have any insight?
Blue gatorade? Like the bright blue? I have never heard of it being that colour. Google lead you somewhere? If it is foremilk/hindmilk imbalance it should balance out once your body is used to not feeding through the night I think.
Chase had his worst night yet with the latest cold (which the doc suggested may actually be allergies since he's had no fever and his ears and lungs are fine after over a week of congestion). He sleeps best held upright, which we can't do without staying up all night, plus DNW him becoming reliant on being held. We're got need to do some CIO if he ever clears up because I can't function at work on 2-3 hours of sleep. Boo.

Is he on an allergy medication? My cousin's daughter has been on one for a really long time, I believe as an infant. I'm so sorry it's been so bad!

Dear Sleep Gods,
Please don't jinx me for saying this. But Brady slept from 6:45-8:30 and 9-7:15. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I didn't do a thing different so who knows. He woke up happy and I woke up happy. Please send us more nights like this, please and thank you!

Ditto this! J slept from 7:40 to 5:40 and then went back down until I got him up at 6:35.

Not yet, our pedi doesn't want to medicate this young while we don't know for sure. We'll see how the cold and flu season goes...

Also, not that we're sleep training in earnest or anything, but I'm completely baffled to the fact that V will put herself to sleep easily for naps and sleep well, but refuses to do so at night and wakes 2-4 times unable to go back to sleep without nursing.
I know what it's like from the other side (DS STTN but never took naps well), so I guess I can take it.
4 minutes into the 8 minute stretch and he sounds like he may give up. Except then he doesn't. This child will learn to get back to sleep at night if it kills me!

E does this "cry cry, mumble mumble. quiet..... cry cry mumble mumble quiet..." Over and over, she's done it up to an hour before. Now of course she has a cold so I am like... do I ignore you if you get up too much, or feed you because you are sick? Sigh....
Chase STTN half the time but then he has these nights when he won't sleep unless he's being held. Last night was the 3rd time this week, hence the Ferber attempt. He's been put down awake since he was a month old, so I figured it would be easy.
Over an hour and a half.
I started with 2 minutes between check-ins and was up to 15 by the time he finally gave up. He didn't get sick or anything (I've heard of that happening) but he's never sounded so angry. At least he didn't seem to hold it against me this morning.

Can I curse here? Sleep training fucking sucks. We've been at it all week and it's not getting any better. I'm watching greys anatomy to try to drown out the crying and stress eating Kings Hawaiian rolls.
I feel like I don't belong in here since J does pretty well. He STTN a couple of times a week. The rest of the time he only wakes up once, but he's up for over an hour. I hear every little noise he makes so even if he's just talking, I can't sleep. He used to go right back down after eating. Now I get him back to sleep, put him down, he wakes up after a minute or two and fusses and cries, rinse and repeat several times. When he goes to bed most of the time he can put himself to sleep even if it takes a little while.

I pretty much got scolded at infant massage the other day for sleep training E by the leader. I said we did sleep training because it was getting really bad. That there wasn't a ton of crying involved. One night she cried 30 minutes at bed and sometimes in the motn. The leader then talked to the whole class how sometimes our babies just need us emotionally because they were in us for 9 months and we have to remember this too shall pass. I wanted to freaking smack her. When you are so tired you're afraid you could hurt your baby and you're crying every day and thinking of calling your doctor for help.. something has to change. She did not suffer at all and I meet her emotional needs thank you very much.
sunshineshades - She sounds like a peach. Do people honestly think we LIKE hearing our babies cry? We wouldn't do this if we didn't need to. Grrrr... I can't stand sanctimonious people like that.
