It's 1137 and neither of us has been asleep yet. E has an awful cough that seems to wake him as soon as he settles. He's asleep on my boob now... hoping he stays asleep for a few hours anyway... Good luck to everyone else tonight!!

Oh no! I hope he feel better soon. Coughs and little babies scare me! Hoping you're getting some good sleep now!

Well he ended up staying asleep and not waking until 630! I never heard him cough, so hopefully that's getting better... though my toddler has been hacking all night.
Pass those sleep vibes my way please. Another night of not wanting to be put down. Also after midnight he decided it was time for our eat, play, sleep routine and the midnight and 4am feeds he wouldn't fall asleep for over an hour after.
Super fussy evening with an overtired baby last night since we went out to dinner and she didn't nap. I kind of freaked out trying to get her settled in the evening but eventually figured out that rocking her with a pacifier seems to do the trick so i need to remember that and not try to nurse her when she's overtired since she just tried to use me like a paci. We did get back to 5 hours last night for the first stretch and then up one more time so that was positive but she woke up early again at 6:45. She has been going down in her crib for the night by about 8:30ish and I stayed up to watch a couple innings of the World Series (go Indians!!!) so I didn't get the full benefit.
So C thought that his nap at 5 was the start of bedtime. He had eaten at 3:30 and by 7:30 still hadn't waken up. He was laying in the mamaroo (not turned on) with my toddler "reading" to him and touching him and he was still out cold. Finally just picked him up and changed his diaper to wake him. Unfortunately I've only been getting three hour stretches since.
I did finally convince DH to get the swing out of the basement and set it up in our bedroom so I've actually been able to put him down after the first stretch. Currently holding him upright for a few more minutes then attempting the swing again. Fingers crossed because I need sleep!
I haven't checked this thread in a few days and boy am I jealous of all of these stretches. Only once have I gotten 5.5 hrs and none since. We normally average 4-4.5 for the first stretch and 2-3 the next.
We just woke up for the first time. R didn't fall asleep until almost 11:30, but I'll take a 5 1/2 hour stretch! He had been grunting and moving for probably a half hour before actually waking up so I didn't get the 5 1/2, but it was still better than what we had been doing.
LO did a 5.5 hour stretch to start the night, which was great, but now we're up again after less than 3 hours. As long as he goes back down, I can handle it - he better not be up for the day!
It took almost 2 hours to get LO down last night. First wake-up went smoothly, but now I've been up with him for 1.5 hours. DD will probably be up within the next 30 minutes, so I guess no more sleep for me. Hopefully everyone else is snoozing!
singingsea I hope you are right, my LO had a similar day of hardly any sleep. He is sleeping on me now after his first wake up, hoping he will let me put him down soon.
LO conveniently timed his first wake-up to coincide with the final inning of game 7. I don't follow baseball, but extra innings in game 7 with the longest title drought on the line is exciting for any sports fan!
Now we're on wake-up #2 - it's been an hour & LO won't go back down. Yesterday, he got up for the day at 5:30 am - that's bad enough, but 4 am is ridiculous.
I don't remember if I've mentioned this before but one thing that helps me transfer LO to her bassinet after nursing to sleep is a heating pad. When she wakes up I turn it on and stick it on her bassinet. I do the whole MOTN thing-nurse change swaddle burp and then take the pad off her bassinet. By then it's nice and warm and she usually doesn't realize in not holding her anymore when I set her down.

I'd also like to add using a swaddler or a wearable blanket retains some of your body heat and smell. This seems to work with R.

I just unpacked the box with the heating pad I'm going to try this tonight!
Some day all the boxes will be unpacked.
I've been in my house 4 years and still have boxes in the basement. Mostly it's stuff I bought for when we renovate our kitchen and bathrooms but still.
In a shocking turn of events, it appears we were trying to put E to bed when she just wasn't tired enough, hence the fighting at bedtime. I was sticking with the 1 hour wake time in the evening still but apparently giving her 2 hours for her last waketime and an earlier bed time is the winning combo! Bedtime took 20ish minutes including nursing and she slept 8p-2:45a! She is also tired from shots today which probably helped the length, but it's positive that it didn't wreck her night!
LO just slept for 7-7.5 hours! That's by far the longest stretch we've ever gotten - his "long" stretch is typically no more than 4 hours of actual sleep time. I was worried, then thrilled once I checked him on the monitor, then terrified when I saw the results of the election.
I can't wait for DS2 to sleep longer stretches. But I will gladly take the 2- three hour sleep stretches that both he and I got where I didn't have to hold him tonight. It's the small victories.
I'm pretty sure he could feel my anxiousness at this last wake up seeing the results because it took him much longer than usual to fall back asleep. I'm holding him now hoping to try putting him down soon but he isn't in a nice deep sleep yet.

I have to brag because we've had some bad nights but R only had one wake up last night! He slept 4-5 hours then I nursed him and changed him then he slept another 2-3. Hallelujah!
C just slept 3 hours in the swing. I know for most of you that doesn't seem like much but for us it's amazing since he is usually just being held most of the night. It had also been about 5 hours from his last feeding so if we can start getting him down faster there is hope for more sleep.
Order of next goals: - all stretches in swing (ie no holding) - decrease speed of swing until off - switch to RnP - start working on PnP or crib. - sleep all night in crib by February (back at work)
