packmomma I'm not sure if they were actually doing that or it was a hoax. I've seen lots of stories about the clowns in various places but I don't understand the point of anyone doing that or how they have all decided to? There was a picture of the one in my area but I didn't post because I know lots of people don't like clowns. I don't particularly like them but they don't scare me really either. Although in my backyard it probably would
skinandbones I hope you enjoy the beach anyway! MH is the same way. He plans nothing and rarely thinks ahead. I always wonder when I think of something and take care of it, what would he have done if I hadn't thought of this?? I love that he is carefree but it also stresses me out sometimes
ars093s I'm sorry you're dealing with so much. I imagine it would be so hard to wean before you wanted to and to do it in exchange for working long ass hours would suck. You have all my sympathies. In regards to the racism I would definitely have a problem allowing ny family around them. Fil has made some pretty racist comments against Mexicans that don't conform to white society and when told that he was describing some of my family he just said "I know". So in feel that racists don't care if they make you uncomfortable (which she had to know she was doing). I think I would tell her it really hurt you to read those things but beyond that I would just distance myself and my family. I'm aorry you're having to deal with it.

Yes! I'm always having to be the one to think things thru. When it was just us, it wasn't that big of a deal. With the kids, it's gotten frustrating.
In fairness, his parents are the same way. There have been a few times they have made suggestions regarding the kids (like staying at their house). I like, ah, where will they sleep?
skinandbones I'm glad nothing was broken. I would cancel the beach trip. Tell DS1 that the weather was going to be really bad and then maybe entice him with going to a movie instead. That way you don't have to pack up the whole house but he can do something fun.
skinandbones my FIL is like DH also. MIL is not but I actually think that's part of why he doesn't think ahead or plan anything. She has done everything for her 3 boys since birth, like DH only knew how to use a microwave, had never done dishes or laundry etc when we moved in together. So I think part of it is his personality but it's also just that he's never HAD to plan ahead since she always took care of it all. He's gotten better as far as taking care of himself and the house but the never thinking ahead thing still drives me crazy at times.
packmomma yikes. Last night when I looked it up, I read an article calling it a hoax but it didn't really clarify how they knew it was a hoax. I think it's probably more likely that something weird was going on in SC and now lots of people are copying it for whatever reason. But seriously would not do it even if I thought it was funny. People around here are happily armed and it's not worth potentially getting shot by a scared or angry person to try to be funny or whatever the motivation is
I am also the planner in our relationship. J would not be in preschool, the kids would never join activities like swim and soccer, and we would never go on vacation if I left everything up to my husband. He always does things last minute and can find a bajillion ways to procrastinate.
TTMA crock pots. We got a bunch for our wedding that we donated, because we tend to just do snacks or salads for dinner and it didn't fit our cooking style.
But now I'm solo parenting literally half the time because of my husband's schedule, and I don't want to raise my kids on snacky meals all the time. Are crock pots worth it? I'm a vegetarian but my kids aren't, and I anticipate that I'll mostly be cooking just for them with it. Are the recipes easy?
My iphone is plugged into the charger but losing its charge. Noooooooo... I know the charger is fine because DH was just using it on his phone. I've been having battery issues for awhile :\
Mine did this to me the other day! Then it died fully and was fine after that. Maybe try turning it off for a minute then on again?

joi922, I love my crockpot. Things like chili are so easy. Dump in a bunch of cans of beans/sauce/ etc before work and when you get home its all ready! Some meals are a little more involved but I still think it's nice for the time crunch. I usually have more time in the morning or the night before, but when I get home from work I have half an hour to feed the baby before apocalypse/bedtime. You can always make it the night before, put it in the fridge, then just pull it out and turn it on in the morning. Pulled pork is another favourite.
mommabakes, congrats!!! We are so far from that point but I have to imagine it would feel glorious.
joi922, I'm a vegetarian too! I only recently started using my crock pot again and it has been a hit. Crock Pot chili is an easy vegetarian meal and there are lots of options for flavor. For example, I put Japanese sweet potato in mine. Chili can also be made into other meals later in the week like veggie chili dogs, baked potato with chili, etc. I've also made pot pie with tofu instead of chicken and other soup. I like to put a little color on things like onion on the stove before I throw it all in the crock pot but it isn't necessary.
mommabakes, congrats on dealing the debt! My H is 3rd shifter too. It kind of blows. I used to work a lot of 28 hour shifts and we barely ever saw each other.
skinandbones, I'm glad the finger isn't broken! What a pain. We are about to have an insurance issue between our jobs too. I think we will have to COBRA for a month. Gives me anxiety just thinking about it.
joi922 crockpot recipes are easier for me than others. With some, you really just throw everything in an turn it on. And I'm sure there are lots of vegetarian recipes that would be good too!

joi922, crockpots are awesome. You can always cook up a big batch of whatever, and then add pre cooked meat last once you have served yourself. I do this a lot.
Also, you can cook a whole chicken in th e crockpot. Divide it up, there's enough for 3-4 meals and it's cheaper than buying a pack of breasts.
joi922, I love Crock-Pot. My go to recipe, throw some chicken in, season with cumin, chili pepper, garlic powder, top with a can of corn drained, can of black beans drained and rotel. Cook. Shredded chicken top with cheese. Serve over rice or on a tortilla. I add cilantro. Kids love it!
Also, chicken, season and can if beer, cook then shred. You end up with chicken for several meals...tacos, nachos, chicken and rice, salads...well you get the point.

I've been out of touch and haven't caught up.
We had quite the literal shitty morning. An emergency bath was required. Also I woke up and thought it was Saturday and I was really sad when I realized it wasn't.

I read this like Brick Tamland from Anchorman. I love...crockpot.
