A while back O started trying to roll out of your arms when you hold him, and if you don't put him down he fussed and tries harder. I obviously can't set him down wherever and whenever but he's getting bigger and harder to hold.
When we would go to outside things I started making sure I had a floor seat and a small tent when possible so that we would always have some way for him to not be held. If that wasn't possible I would keep him in his stroller and cross my fingers.
Whatever the situation, when he looks done I put him down and he just plays on his own on the floor for a bit. I can see this becoming more of an issue though as he takes up more space and can roll more. Like today we went to a family bday and he wanted nothing to do with anyone. As soon as we got there he wanted down (we were the first to arrive) and he was happy as long as I let him be. But as more people came I was worried about him getting stepped on. He can't crawl and isn't that great with observing his surroundings. I put him in his floor seat and he lasted about 5 minutes, so that's not a solution. I tried to keep him sitting just normal but he kept rolling out of it. And when anyone picked him up to say hi he immediately wanted back down.
I want to wear him, but if he's on my front he still roots (has a lot of newborn reflexes) and cries and is just kind of a mess. I've tried other carries that led to him crying in a way that sounded like a panic attack on two occasions. The first time I thought babies don't have panic attacks and was being silly, but the second time made me think that maybe he just really can't handle that kind of close, prolonged contact. Normally I would keep trying til he got used to it but I just can't make him that upset
So what do I do? He's just getting bigger and harder to handle, but he's still only 14 months so it's not like he's 10 or anything. But I can't show up at everyone's house with a stroller, and I also feel like having him sit in one the whole time isn't helping him anyway.
I'm also worried about how he is showing more and more that he doesn't want contact. I hope it's just a phase since he's rolling around now.
Ug. Sorry my posts are always so long :/ I know I'm not the only person in this situation so I feel like there must be some simple solution that I'm just not seeing.
