My kids are currently sharing a room. I usually put my 5mo old to bed 30-45 mins before my 2 year old so when he goes to bed she's already asleep by the time it's my toddlers bedtime. We have a reading nook upstairs so I read to him, brush his teeth, and them bring him into the bedroom.
Definitely not too late to stop that habit! Id attempt the Jo Frost method. First time he wake up tell him 'it's bedtime honey, time to go to your bed!' and put him into his bed. Second time tell him 'it's bedtime now.' then bed. Then for any other wake ups just keep putting him in his bed without saying anything. It may take a few nights but he will get it. Also it helps us when I tell E all the fun things we will do in the morning. He seems to go down easier. Hope I could help a little! I'm definitely still learning life with 2
