I haven't slept more than a few hrs in a row in weeks, I legit disliked my kid this morning. I'm using the tv as a helper this morning. I just can't. Someone send coffee. And a tranquilizer for the kid. His daycare thinks it's teeth, but she's old school and doesn't really follow leaps and sleep regression.

Yes to all of this. Except the daycare part. I feel so bad when I feel myself losing patience, but I just need sleep. Even a 4 hour stretch at this point would be glorious. He's not even napping long enough during the day for me to try to take a nap.
Ugh for real. A 4 hour stretch would be amazing. She still has a cold and I'm worried at this point it might have moved to her ears She had a low grade fever overnight. Or maybe it is teeth. Who knows. Babies are a mystery.

4 hrs would be amazing I agree. How long is this supposed to last? I feel like we've been in it for 3 weeks now? He's refusing to fall back asleep on his own, I can't even rock him to sleep, he doesn't want anything but boob. It's killing me. My airbags feel so deflated

You are singing my song. It was better-we were down to 1 or 2 wake ups a night in September. Now we're averaging 4 or 5, a crazy early wake up time, and 20 minute naps.
It just took 30 minutes for him to fall asleep for a nap (nursing, because of course) and he woke up as soon as I put him down.

Random question about flu shots for those who get them/medical professional people - I had the flu shot yesterday around 3:30pm. Felt totally fine other than arm soreness. Fell asleep on the couch and woke up at 11:50pm extremely dizzy. Like, ran into the wall dizzy. Went to bed and prayed it was a fluke, but I woke up feeling pretty much the same. I'm not totally impaired this morning, but I definitely feel like my world is off balance.
Anyone ever experience this? Could it have anything to do with the shot? That's all I can think of because otherwise yesterday was business as usual.
As I'm swapping out my clothes for the colder weather, I'm also having to swap something else out.. my bras.. to go back down to my pre-pregnancy size. My boobs look so sad and small and deflated now. Wahhhhhh!! Maybe for Christmas I'll treat myself to a new push up bra, lol.
DS is side lying nursing/napping beside me because his cough this morning didn't sound nice (we've been dealing with colds) and a 30 min nap is not long enough.
Was supposed to see my cousin and her baby today but they're having a fussy day with no naps so we rescheduled. I might take the dog and baby for a walk - there a nice nature trail nearby
I'm crabby. I didn't wake up this way but I took H to story time at the library and she wasn't listening and then she has to ask me the same thing 50,000 times and there went my patience. She's being a pain in the ass but is supposed to be eating lunch and then it will be sweet, sweet nap time.
Ugh. Little temp turned into 102.5 and climbing. I think our 2 weeks of snot has traveled into her nose. Poor kiddo. She's so not herself. I realized when we were at the library (luckily she was confined to the stroller) so we booked (hehe, library pun) it out of there. Now debating calling out of work tonight.... ETA traveled into her ears Her nose has been a faucet for quite some time now.
leahks77 do you think it's an ear infection? poor kiddo, I hope she's feeling better soon.
Haha yes, I meant traveled into her ears. From her nose. I fail at typing. And thank you! She's so sad looking. She's barely smiling. This is NOT my happy baby.

I love a good pun. Hope she feels better soon! Poor girl.

Bummer. I hope you can get some antibiotics and get her feeling better quickly. You're a nurse, right? Do you have an at home otoscope?

He's been up since 6am. It's almost 3, and we have less than an hour of naps total. We're both extremely grumpy as a result. I'm sneaking away as soon as H comes home tonight.

I am, but I don't DS was never an ear infection baby. I think he had one? But I wish I had one now. She isn't tugging on her ears but she does pull away a bit if I push on them. Her temp came down to 100.4 with Tylenol. And I called out of work. Lots of snuggles and nursing until dr visit tomorrow....

I got blindsided at the dentist with SS and all of the sudden L has her first dentist appointment already scheduled for April. How can that be? She's still a newborn, right? Why does this seem like such a big deal?!?!?!?!
She's currently chewing on the corner of the coffee table and licking the legs, so maybe it's actually not a bad thing.
Note to self. If the child fusses while you're making dinner, finish slicing the things *before* looking at the child; do not do both at the same time.

My auto mommy radar almost lost me a finger.
Oh no! Bad cut?
Luckily my fingernail stopped it from hitting flesh. So I just have a fucked up nail for a bit. Phew.

ok this may be a silly question and make my new mom show but how do you ladies get an accurate temp reading?!? any time i thought g was getting a fever i try to use the thermometer and she just squirms and cries and i end up having to hold her down while trying to keep the thing in her armpit. it has never worked in my favour.

I always go for a rectal temp. It's what the pedi wants to hear about and frankly with diaper changes it's super easy.

Re rectal temps: does anyone have a recommendation for an accurate, fast thermometer? The one I have takes foreverrrrr so I find it easier to keep him entertained with a toy or silly singing while doing it in his armpit vs keeping it shoved in his poor ass hole for so long. But like noted, it's not super accurate that way.
I hope everyone feels better and starts getting sleep again soon! Has anyone had what feels like round ligament pains when you are not pregnant? I felt it last night when I was sitting down but moving to adjust how I was sitting.

I have this one and highly recommend it. It takes 5 seconds to read and turns red if they have a fever. The numbers are huge too. Safety 1st Advanced Solutions Easy Read 4-in-1 Thermometer www.amazon.com/dp/B009UQFU2S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_FwU.xbM0Q03V0

We had this one for DS and rebought it for DD (I think the battery had died).
Every once in a while I feel like it takes aaaaages, but I think that's my impatience during bad fevers. I checked DD before daycare the other morning because I felt she might have been warm the previous night and it seemed lightning fast.
Busy day at work today and tonight we went to DH's grandparents house to celebrate their birthday. They have the same bday.
At work, one of the families/children I work with lives on a farm and has a huge garden. They have tons and tons of pumpkins, way too many to know what to do with and don't have time to go sell them or anything. So she offered me to have some and was super excited to load up the back of my vehicle. It was so sweet. I got some different sized pumpkins, white pumpkins, and gourds. I now have quite the pumpkin collection on our porch and loving it 🎃

This. It's the only reliable one at this age.
really? our health unit told us to never do a rectal temp as only health professionals should. they said too many people have hurt their babies trying to get one. Also she has never had one done at any midwife or doctor appointment they all use a fancy stick one that goes under her arm but is super quick. i thought rectal temps were a thing of the past. hmm. thanks for the suggestion.
