Headed into the hospital at 8:30am on Oct 11th to begin my induction. Midwife showed up at about 8:45am and we got set up to break my water, which was around 9am. I wandered the halls, had a couple of contractions but nothing to write home about. They were spaced pretty far apart and didn't even phase me. Around 11:30am I went to visit my coworkers on the 10th floor. Again nothing out of the ordinary was happening. At 12 DH and I went down to the cafeteria to get some lunch. While sitting I had one painful contraction but nothing on the way back up to our room. At 1pm, the contractions were coming on stronger but not to painful yet. I got checked and was around a 5-6, so officially in active labour. Then shit hit the fan. The contractions ramped up ridiculously fast and were coming every 2-4 minutes. Some were painful, some not. At 2:45 I requested the epidural. The midwives got everything ready, IV went in, CADD pump was being primed. Just had to wait for the Anesthetist to walk in (was next door finishing up an epidural). At 2:55pm I had to pee and the anesthetist was out in the hall. Went into the bathroom and told the MW I had to push. I DID not want to do it med free but I had no choice. I started pushing at with the next contraction around 3 and at 3:33pm Charlotte Jane was here. All 9lbs 5ozs and 21.25 inches of her. The pain was excruciating (she has a big head, just like DS). It wasn't the way I wanted labour to go but she is perfect and she is here. We did skin to skin until 5:45pm (she was attached to the boob the entire time) when they weighed her and checked her blood sugar. We were discharged at 7:30pm and spent the night comfort nursing.
