Monday evening I had an hour of pretty consistent mildly uncomfortable contractions. They petered out, but still came sporadically overnight. I had an appt Tuesday morning where the midwife told me I was only a fingertip dilated and to go on about my life. I took DD to swim and did errands, still having sporadic mildly uncomfortable contractions. Tuesday night 8 pm they picked up consistency and intensity. Moaning through them etc. 10:30 pm I called the midwife who reminded me I had only been a fingertip dilated and that I'd had a super long labor with DD. But when I told her I didn't even know how to deal with the contractions anymore and passed the phone off to DH during one, she said to come along. We called my mom to come watch DD. When she showed up at 11 I was getting 2-3 contractions in waves together. I waited for a lull and we got in the car. Water broke in the car. We arrived at the hospital at 11:15 and I was like involuntarily pushing. They wheeled me into a room and told me I was 9.5 cm. No time for epidural, no time for IV antibiotics for GBS. DD2 was born at 11:44 pm! I felt like a wild woman, it was so crazy. We got to do skin to skin. I needed a few stitches. She's latched a couple times. Between adrenaline, post partum cramping, and squeaky baby sleep noises, I've only slept a total of 30 minutes. DD1 is coming this am and then I'm hoping to put off any other visitors until tomorrow so I can rest. But we are both doing well.
OMG sanibel21!!!! I so knew it! You had a feeling yesterday and you were right. I'm so happy you were able to make it to the hospital. I can't believe how speedy it went. Another rock star mom!!!! So many congrats! Now to go cross you off the list

I am seriously in disbelief but in a good way! This is awesome. I had a feeling it was coming yesterday! This is an awesome story. Congratulations!! Can't wait to see pics and hear the name decision
Congratulations! I'm glad you made it to the hospital in time, and glad you and the baby are doing well!
I honestly don't understand why your MW would think that just because our first labor was long, that your 2nd labor would be long, too. I always hear of subsequent babies coming a lot more quickly. Glad you got there, though!!

I thought this too. The length of your first labor doesn't necessarily mean anything at all about your next one. And why go based on that when she has actual measurable symptoms like contraction severity and frequency. But again glad everything worked out

WOW - glad the MW finally listened and told you to come in, sounds like it was close. Glad you got to do skin-to-skin right away! Hope you are getting some rest in and enjoying the baby snuggles, love.
