mommabakes How'd you learn to sew? Did your family teach you, take a class, etc? H bought me this amazing sewing machine years ago but I can barely do straight lines on it. Are there learning resources you'd recommend?
joi922 w is clingy like that too. Weekends are usually when I get a break and this weekend it was hard because he would scream half the time I handed him to h. Hopefully they both outgrow it soon.
joi922 H and I aren't complete opposites but nearly so. I found what helped us was doing that "who do you side with quiz" at first it was disheartening because we were polar opposites. But then we went through each question and although we're different we're much closer on the ideal if not the how to get there. It may help you understand each other a bit better. Or just keep the moritorium. that works for us on specific subjects too.
joi922 I say get the book. I learned some crochet from my grandmother when I was 6 but really learned from a book 20 years later. If there's a particular stitch you're having an issue with you can always find a YouTube video to help.
+1 I was taught crochet frok various books and friends over the years but the thing I find most helpful is youtube. The book may help give you ideas and then if you need a little help on a specific stich youtube is awesome. Also, I don't know how to knit but I would imagine it's the same kind of learning. Anecdote: my English class was a little out of control in high school so our teacher taught us to crochet to keep us busy while she talked. She had add and used crochet as a way to help keep her mind occupied so she could focus. I've always used it as a kind of almost meditation.
@betweenthelines I find the biggest thing that helps when H and I are struggling is making sure we turn towards each others bids for attention. After a stressful day I find myself looking at my phone whole he talks or vice versa. The simple act of putting down the phone helps me feel so much more connected. I know it's obvious but it's amazing how much I don't notice I'm doing it.
We took a walk this morning and it was in the low 40's. Very nice although W's hands were cold (I tucked in his feet). I like starting my day with a short walk. It's only a mile but I think it helps all of us (most of all my dog). Then I did a target run to return 2 things and didn't buy anything!. After w wakes up from his nap we're making a huge sams run so I can make freezer meals for my mom (she's getting her knee replaced next week). Right now w is sleeping on me. He fell asleep nursing while I was talking on the phone.
So w has been sick for a little over a week and his nose seems to be clearing up but this wet cough is hanging around. When I called Monday they said I could bring him in in a couple of days if he was still sick. I didn't because he doesn't have a fever. Should I bring him in since it's lasting so long though? My feeling is just keep letting it figure itself out because he doesn't have a fever and he's not pulling on his ears. Thoughts?

I did sewing in 4H for several years when I was young, and my great grandma taught me. She was a professional seamstress in her younger years. I have just a cheap, super basic machine and it works.
A lot of fabric/ craft shops do in person classes which might be helpful until you get more comfortable with your machine

Had such a great weekend! My parents were here Fri-Sun morning and it was a nice time. My mom took a karate class with DS, and we toured the Ford factory (which was actually really awesome!). They left Sunday morning, then we went to a local orchard for apple and pumpkin picking. Came home and put up more Halloween decorations so it was a good day
DD is napping now, we went to Mother Goose on the Loose at the library and then I had to run a few errands. Baking an apple pie today (so.many.apples.) and trying to get some rest...I'm tired!
Fuck anyone want a sams membership and not have one? I bought a Groupon one and didn't realize it excluded renewals and it's too late to cancel it now. $25 obo
@mrspanpan I called the pediatrician just to check if I should bring him in. At first it was just the runny nose and drooling (clearly teething) but then the cough started last week. I am also sick and have the same symptoms (sans drooling ) my mom's pre op appt is Wednesday and I need to go to that so I need w to be better by them because I don't want to get her sick before her surgery.
packmomma I'm usually not bothered by our opposite politics. We have some common ground and definitely respect the other for why we feel the way we do. We've had several good debates in the past . I think I'm just burned out this election cycle. So when a TV show (Hawaii 5-O of all things) dealt with gun control and husband tried to start a debate, I shut it down fast. I'm just over it. I need to have that nope octopus gif on repeat on my phone so I can use that instead of replying to any more politics talk at home or work.
He never took a nap. I've been carrying him on my back for 2 hours. And H is working late so I'm in charge of putting the overtired baby to bed. Also, the meat I was going to make tacos with has gone bad. I need a do over.
