I think Dr. Murphy left because Richard didn't think she was a good surgeon. She had good research skills or something. I think there were other circumstances too but I forget.
I was thinking about Greys last night because of this thread. Why did Shonda make Meredith have little Ellis after Derek died if they never show the kids? At all. Just seems so weird to throw that in.
Derek died? Well shit. This is why I quit watching Greys so long ago. Like years ago. When I quit watching I felt like they needed to wrap up in a good way that everyone wanted and be done because the show was just going in all sorts of weird directions and too many new people.

I'm sorry for spoiling it! It was near the end of season 11.
I feel like I've been watching just to see the show to completion, but they should've ended when Cristina left at the end of season 10.

No I don't care. I'm not watching them so that's why I'm in here reading just to see what's happened along the way. I wish they would have just ended the show with Derek and Meredith together in a happy way and been done with it. And I always wanted Christina and Burke to be together (aside from the real in life Burke incident that made him be taken off the show) but did Christina actually "leave" the show and go to be with him? I feel like I heard that somewhere...

Burke was living in Switzerland I think and running his own medical practice thing. He is married and i think has a few kids. He wanted Christina to take it over so he could be with his family. I think..

This is accurate, at least I think? I don't remember where exactly it was, but yes Christina left for the job, not for him.
Yes Cristina moved to Switzerland, to take over Burke's position, not to be with him. He has a wife and two kids, so I think they were going to move to be closer to her family because she made all these sacrifices for his job.

Going back to Jo: I really liked her until this season and the whole secretly married storyline. Her reason for not telling Alex (he might go looking for her abusive husband) is stupid.
And how did she become a doctor under a fake name?

I was wondering the same thing! Like, did she leave the abusive husband before starting medical school? Or does he know she's a doctor and she just legally changed her name after graduating med school. SO many questions.

Yes. So many holes and stupidity in that storyline. I think they got writers block. And I really feel like, both last season and this one, shonda is focused more on her other shows, so this one is just.. blah

I know this husband will show up sometime this season. I do hope Alex and Jo get back together in the end. I've seen theories multiple places that Alex and Meredith will end up together. I don't want to see that!

Oh, ew. Alex and Mer are like brother and sister. That would just be wrong. I want Mer to get over herself and date the one doctor who likes her, the one she screwed in the car. I can't remember his name. I feel like she's using her sister as an excuse

Riggs. She is creating so much drama in this situation. When Maggie told Mer she liked Riggs, all Mer had to do was say, "This is awkward, but I did him in my car. Sorry sis."
Omg. Last night's Grey's. I'm in tears. I can't imagine Amelia.. the real actress.. doing that scene, telling the story, while she's pregnant in real life. Man.

I thought it looked like she had a bit of a bump in the scene where they were meeting the ambulances for the road rage car crash people! Well I guess Amelia is going to be knocked up for real in one of the next few episodes.

Yea her and the actress that plays Jo are both pregnant but I don't think they are writing either pregnancy into the show, at least those are the rumors. Who knows. Even if Amelia does get pregnant soon, the bumps won't line up because she's pretty far along already.
Heeeeeey, totally dropping back in from nowhere but, loving this thread and wondering if anyone else had read Shonda's book "the year of yes"? I haven't watches greys in years but the book makes me want to hop back in to the crazy.
Random Greys question: Does the Chief of Surgery run the whole hospital or is there supposed to be a Chief of Staff at GSM?
I remember on ER that they were 2 different positions. But on Greys, it seems like it's always the Chief of surgery trying to save the whole hospital. Like when Richard decided to merge Seattle Grace with Mercy West; or when Owen was in charge during the Pegasus stuff. Do they even have that kind of power ?

Yeah, I don't think they are really emulating reality. Chief of surgery doesn't run the hospital in real life. The surgical departments are the highest grossing departments in the hospital though so if they improve it's going to bring the whole hospital more money. Also in real life doctors don't just hang out at the hospital like that either. They have to go to clinic and usually when they are over in the surgical area they are there to get shit done. This is all based off the information I learned at my last position in the surgical clinic.
I feel like some episodes they make it seem like chief of surgery is head of everything and some they make it seem like it's only the one department, and they just don't really show the other departments at all. Like, remember in the first couple seasons they would discuss dermatology as a whole separate world? I think the show just does whatever fits the scene better, lol.
I'm watching right now. I just wanted to mention that the song at the very beginning is 1D EatsRitz. It's a string version of drag me down, I like it.
Lol I love that you think of me when you hear 1D. Thanks for the heads up. I've never watched greys before but now I'll have to find that episode just to hear the song.
