Thomas Patrick Lastnamewithheld was born 12/19/2016 via c-section after my water broke the day before.
They hooked me up to pitocin to try to get me to dilate (Still wasn't dilated even after my water broke) but after hours and hours of trying different things, changing positions every 15-30 minutes so baby's heart rate wouldn't be compromised, I spiked a fever right around the 22-hour post water breaking point, and we decided the section would be the best course of action.
This poor kid had himself so wedged into my pelvis with the widest part of his head so HOLY SHIT the pressure to get him out was INTENSE. He even had quite a cone head and a few bruises from it.
He weighed 7lbs 9oz, and was 18.5" tall. He's perfect and looks like his daddy. He was absolutely, 100% worth the wait, and worth all the pokes, prods, blood and tears.
And a picture the day we got home with his big brother, Eastwood watching over him.
Lena Katherine was born around 8:30pm on Tuesday, December 20. She weighed 6 lb 1 oz and is 19.5 inches long.
I was scheduled to be induced at the time that baby was actually born. Woke up on Monday in the early morning hours with mild contractions, and that was the last time I slept, lol. I worked from home that day and had a good NST. Contractions came and went the rest of the day. We went to bed and I laid awake and contracting until about 12:30 am. They weren't insanely intense but were getting worse, and the on call dr wanted me to get checked, considering how long they'd been going.
Arrived at the hospital I think around 80% effaced and only 1 cm dilated. We walked the halls from 2-3am, and they then admitted us. I made really slow progress despite my contractions becoming unmanageable, and the drs started getting really concerned with baby's heart rate. Was apparently close to needing a c-section but didn't know that until the next day.
Several hours later, we finally had the epidural in place, I was able to relax and things were so much better. I felt baby move low and we pushed for 3 hours. The last 1.5 hours, I was beside myself with the pain and exhaustion, but dh did an amazing job supporting me.
The nurse started getting concerned that she wasn't coming out, and called the head nurse. She added some lube and baby literally shot out of me during the next push. Is it was insane!!
The hospital stay itself was really overwhelming and confusing. And the last few days have been really stressful. I'm hoping things continue to improve and baby keeps eating well!
She is so gorgeous and sweet, we are totally in love!!

Abigail Clara was born on January 2 at 9:28am. She clocked in at 8lbs 10oz and was 21 inches long.
We went into be induced at 41weeks, this was Friday the 30th at 10pm. Started with 2 rounds of misoprostol to start sofetening the cervix. This worked so in the morning they put in a catheter balloon to get real dilation started. This hurt so much. I wanted to get up and walk through contractions but it was way too painful. I got the epidural, but it took to one side more than the other so I had to stay on one side, but elevated. When this didn't help they had to totally turn off the epi and start it again with a smaller dose. Once that was fixed they pulled the balloon and I was at 4cm and we started pitocin.
Around midnight my water was broken which gave the baby a few decels. They stopped the pitocin just to let baby rest. In the morning(now Sunday) they came into check and we'd made some progress but they wanted to place an internal contraction monitor. When the placed it baby had bigger decels, a team rushed in and they had to give me O2 and a shot to slow down uterine contractions. After this they put baby on an internal monitor and she was very well behaved the rest of the time.
We started everything back up in the middle of the night and everything was progressing well. I stopped producing a lot of urine so they pumped me full if fluids which was yucky. All this time I was having what now know was horrible has pains that my epi didn't cover. I was super miserable. At around 6:30 on Monday Morning I was at a 10 and ready to push. I pushed for 2 hours and she did not budge. We decided to go for the c-section.
C-section went great overall. It took both docs to pull her out she was so wedged into my pelvis. She came out very stunned, but still had apgars of 6 and 8. Dh went to go cut her cord and accidentally caught sight of the OR table and nearly fainted. Luckily the nurses caught him and helped him out. He actually had to be wheeled out.
C-section wrapped up and we went to recovery, then to our mother-baby room. Baby had some latch issues at first but we got those fixed and we stayed a the hospital until Wednesday.
I have massive leg and feet swelling but my c-section recovery has been great. Baby is doing fantastic, she lost over 8% of her weight and already put some back on. The labor and delivery staff were amazing. I went through several of the same nurses and the one that was there for delivery was so great. The post delivery staff left a bit to be desired, especially the one who blew my iv. We had great help from lactation consultants as well and are nearing being fully breastfed.
DH was amazing throughout and continues to be amazing. He is amazing with her and has handled every diaper change except maybe one since she was born. We are absolutely in love with her.
