Sorry for not contributing much, another tough week. My mom was released from the hospital Friday and seemed better but she didn't drink more than 8 oz of ensure from Friday to Sunday so she went back to the hospital because she wasn't able to keep water down. I'm scared and stressed, so Wayne is picking up on it and acting up. I'm not sure if my dad can handle babysitting this week but he has offered to help. I hope y'all have a great week!
F's ear has been draining for a week (tomorrow). It smells, and goes from light green and oozy to dark orange/brown. It drips out her ear and crusts over. She sticks her finger in there when it's draining. No fever. Thick great snot mixed with lose clear snot. She hasn't been eating well.
At what point do I throw in the towel and have her seen?
rvamama I'd throw in the towel. I give it a week at home and, if not improving, off to the pedi we go. I once waited two weeks until I finally took her. Medicine helped within 24 hours and I kicked myself for waiting. I fear being "that mom" who runs to the pedi at the slightest sneeze, but I learned my lesson after that experience.
malvo I think you're right. And it just smells so bad too. It's frustrating because of the issues we've had with her ears and at her last appointment her tube for this ear was already gone and the other was just about out. I don't know why they've fallen out so soon!
Edited to add that it is red tonight- like the whole ear. It wasn't before...
kfg10427, T&Ps for your mom. rvamama, you could try to call the nurse at the pedi office and see if they have advice. I agree that it's probably time to take f to get seen.
