I stayed up later than I have in years last night, but
CUBS WIN!!!!!!!!!
I still can't believe it. Amazing. And what an insane game 7. It really had everything.
Congrats! I'm sad, obviously, but I am happy for the Cubs - being from Cleveland, I can totally appreciate what it means to win a championship after a long drought. I'm happy we made it as far as we did with a fairly depleted roster - and what a series, and a crazy, amazing game!
@tifga, I'm sorry things have been so rough I hope you can get her appointment moved up. For her constipation - have you tried apple juice? That's a new thing we've tried - mixing in with some water in a straw cup for C - that has worked some. We've mixed it with prune juice, too. And then keeping him off things like banana and dairy and giving him more pears, peaches and veggies. (He struggles with constipation often). Or taking her temperature rectally to see if that gets things moving? Poor girl.

Good morning! Congrats to all of the Cubs fans. I was watching the CMAs instead...last night was a busy night for TV!
So EG's bottles are back to normal and now her gas has significantly decreased. BIL told me yesterday that his whole family had a weird stomach bug over the weekend with bloat, bad gas, and loss of appetite, so maybe she had a mild version of that. I'm just glad she is back to being herself. She has been in such a better mood the past couple of days. She felt so good yesterday that she took off walking a few times!
I think we are turning a corner, thanks for asking I don't feel great, but better than yesterday. C seems to be improving, too - he was still really congested & couldn't nurse much at all before bed last night, so he was up a ton with MH, hungry and wanting bottles. Finally at like 4am, I took over and he was able to breathe well enough to nurse and then he slept well. He sounds much less congested today. I'm hopeful we're past the worst of it. Unfortunately, MH is now coming down with the man-cold version...

We tried a bit of juice yesterday but she wouldn't drink. I'll try again this morning.
I can't cut out dairy it's the only thing she's eating this week. She won't even touch her normal breakfast banana.
I still have some laxative her ped told me to use if we have problems.
Babies cause so much worry.
Truth.
I hope the laxative helps and the pediatrician has some good ideas.
Ugh. I woke up with my shoulders and neck in knots. I seriously think it's election anxiety. I made my H stop turning on the news because I can't take it. Plus, I heard some very sad news about a friend's 4 month old nephew yesterday. It's been lingering in my mind since then.
In other news, our laptop is about to die. Any recommendations for a new one? I don't want to spend a ton but I do want to get as much storage space as I can for my money.

ps. I did not take my election sign down.
Sorry for the sad news. Sending you ((hugs)).
Also, I *think* DoesItComeInPink recently got a new laptop, if she wants to share.

Well I decided to take the baby to the ped this morning since we're supposed to go out of town tomorrow. Ear infection and rsv. Awesome. This is the third kid and we've never had either in our house.
obscurereference, oh no! HelgaHuffle, hugs to you! I can't with any news right now due to the election. There is a pre-election thread in parenting where people are going to hyperventilate if you need to let it out

OMG you guys. I just had a bad coughing fit and peed my pants quite badly, at work. And I am wearing a dress and of course no back up. Aye! I just told my boss I puked myself and need to head home to change. Close enough, right?

Close enough! Eek! I laughed so hard I peed the other day, but was at home in my pajamas at least. Never used to have this problem pre-baby... Feel better soon, hope the coughing clears up!

Okay- this is completely random, but I'm starting to worry that A is behind in his development. But, I really have no idea what is normal and the pediatrician hasn't had any concerns so far (last well child check was in September). He's 11 months old. Here what he is doing: -crawling, standing (unassisted for a few seconds at a time), pulling up, walking with the walker toy, laughing, playing with toys, feeding himself. Here's what I'm concerned about- not doing: -saying any words (babbles a lot, but hasn't said mama, dada, etc and actually associated with person), waving consistently (he'll do it sometimes), clapping, responding to his name consistently. I get these articles from what to expect and others and it seems that most babies are doing all of these things and more. I know all babies reach milestones at different times, so when do you start to be concerned? Should we wait until his 1 year appointment or do you think we should bring these concerns up sooner? Sorry for this novel. It's just been on my mind a lot lately. Thanks for your feedback!

I could have written these things about Cameron almost exactly. I honestly wouldn't worry, I don't.
Just a few days ago Cam started clapping and will now do it when I just say the word clap. He also also started to repeat a few words, but this is also seriously within the last week. He still ignores me most of the time when I say his name but I don't think it's an issue, just off doing his own thing.
I can now also say show it (whatever is in his hand) to daddy and he will do it. I would give it a bit more time before making it an issue.
I bet these things will happen suddenly, similar to what is finally happening with Cam now. He will be 1yr next Friday.
expatmama11 thanks for your response. I was debating even posting about this mostly because I feel like most of those things aren't really an issue anyway. I do think the not responding to his name is just ignoring me. Lol. It starts so early! I was also feeling like things would happen quickly, so glad to hear that's the way it's gone for you.
13liza, I think it's normal to worry - I do, too, all the time - but I agree with what expatmama11 said.
In general, C's been weeks or more behind what feels like the majority of the D15 babies for a lot of milestones, but just when I decide to start getting worried he'll pick it up all of a sudden (right now he doesn't seem anywhere near standing independently or walking like so many already are). And definitely every baby is different. C is doing some - but not all - of the things A is doing, and some, but not all, of the things he isn't. They like to keep us on our toes!

M is over a year and still not standing or walking unassisted and I feel like every other baby here is starting to walk. Our pediatrician wasn't worried in the least at his 1 year appointment. He cruises on furniture like a pro but doesn't seem to trust his own balance yet.
13liza, I worry just like you when I see babies much younger than M doing things that he can't/won't. But like geners said, babies develop at such different speeds and with different things. M isn't walking or standing but he has like 5-7 words already, can point out certain animals in his books, but refuses to wave (even though I know he can) and has never clapped in his life. I just keep reminding myself that he will get there in time, he won't be 30 years old and not know how to wave
13liza If you think they are just ignoring when not responding to your name, that happens, but if it seems more than that, ask your pedi and they can do a hearing test.
I was thinking about that, but he responds to noises, a firm no or uh uh, etc.

Hope LO feels better soon! Both of those illnesses really stink.

13liza I wouldn't worry. None of that sounds delayed to me. I'm actually of the opinion that all of these milestones are pretty useless. Serious delays are going to be very obvious. Really, any walking before 12 months is early and I'm pretty sure there are only 2 babies on here that are walking. Closer to 15 months is actually more normal and still well within range.
As far as talking I have quite a lot of experience with kids that don't talk. My first had maybe 10 words before age three and my second didn't say a thing until right before he turned two. Kids vary WILDLY with talking, particularly up to 18 months. If your baby is vocal and babbling, you're good for now. My first was nearly silent for three years, like I said, serious deficits will be clear. FTR, my kids' language exploded quite suddenly and now I would say they are on par with their peers.
I would suggest trying not to compare. There is probably something your baby does that someone else is thinking "why doesn't my baby do that yet?" Guarantee it.
