honeybee434, I'll side eye your BIL & SIL for you. 7 and in kindergarten, with no history of needing the extra time? He's going to be 19 as a senior in high school!?! That's ridiculous. Maybe they'll wise up and he'll be able to skip a grade, especially if he's bored because it's too easy now.

I have been considering finishing nursing before DD's birthday. I haven't mentioned it to DH because it feels selfish of me, but I'm over being the only one to get up when she wakes up early because I'm the one with the milk.

If you're not ready to stop yet ( which if you are- that's fine too) can you pump extra during the day and have him bottle feed over night? That might be a sort of in-between. Your supply might drop without waking up to pump, but sleep and sanity are important too.
It's one of the foods that's high on allergies, saw it originally here (although looks like they were changing their stance?), Pedi's office still says to wait. I wait because my sister and her kids are allergic to lots of things (Sis is to strawberries, her kids are to peanuts, eggs, milk, soy...) NM you posted the same link LOL. So maybe it's not a big deal anymore and things have changed
My pedi says to give all the foods. He says you want to try peanut butter and seafoods etc. before the first birthday.
My nephew was born the very beginning of April and my BIL and SIL decided to red shirt him. I get that its their kid so I shouldn't care about their choices, but it's getting awkward as he gets older. She's trying to get his 7th birthday planned and it doesn't seem right to say he's going to be 7 and in Kindergarten. Their only reason for holding him back was that he was small for his age then and they didn't want him to be the youngest in his class. He's also pretty bored as he's a smart kid. Makes me worry that he's going to end up having problems with this later as he gets older. If there were learning or social reasons for it I would understand.....but I don't get holding him back with an April birthday for the reasons they chose. Summer or late summer I I could see, but not first of April.
ETA: their 2nd child has a first of August birthday and is in pre-k right now. So only a year apart in school. They now don't know what to do with him and will probably have him repeat so they won't be one year apart in school even though they are 28 months apart. He is fairly immature for his age, so holding him back makes more sense to me.
I am with you with the side eye. 7 in k5! I've heard of parents doing this especially in the south so their son will be bigger than the rest and can excel in sports.

I used to baby sit little boys who were held back just so they'd be bigger for sports. Ironically, neither one ended up being very athletic. Both were such bright little boys but got really bored in class and usually were troublemakers because they weren't being challenged. My husband also was held back and says being the awkwardly oldest kid in his class was one of the hardest things about his growing up years.
Yeah. Maybe. Ask me again tomorrow when my head is t pounding. Currently DD is napping so I crawled into bed.
What's your drink of choice? I usually have wine every night.
I'm a beer lover but I do drink wine and vodka as well.
And, maybe another FFC but I do smoke weed as well (not every day but I don't drink every day either). In all honestly, I would give up alcohol before weed.

The problem isn't middle of the night (where I could just go back to sleep after feeding). It's the occasional waking between 4-5. Ideally she goes to after 6, but when she does wake up earlier, she doesn't always go back to sleep whether or not I feed her, so it's just an earlier wake up for me and I start to resent the hubs who sleeps through it.

My LC said that weed is seriously counter indicated with breastfeeding...I haven't read any studies on it, because I don't use it, but I was surprised with how adamant she was about it.

But isn't it legal for personal use everywhere in Canada? #'mericaproblems
LOL, it isn't legal anywhere in Canada. I would be interested to hear how it has affected the States that have legalized it. I'm assume it will (or should) eventually lift that State out of debt.

I wasn't able to breastfeed so it hasn't been an issue for me. If I was breast-feeding, obviously I wouldn't touch it.

I'm with you. I rarely drink but every so often after the kids are in bed I take a puff. I make hubs listen for the kids and I relax. I'll never feel guilty about it.
