Kate, sorry for your nanny troubles! Maybe a parent/grandparent had a stroke or heart attack out of town and she's going to stay with them/nearby until they get better.
I'm glad you can rely on your MIL for backup care at least, and I hope you find an awesome new nanny soon
This was my thought too - an elderly relative who broke a hip or something and needed a caregiver. My mom suggested that it's also possible they were evicted or something and are going to stay with family too far away to commute, which I hadn't considered.
Oh kate61487 I totally understand! In fact we would probably have used a nanny but V looooooves other kids so that's why we are doing a daycare. If I had twins I would 10000000% do a nanny!

Did dishes, cleaned kitchen, was about to reward myself with ice cream when Magoo woke up 30 minutes early. Grrrrr. This might be a long afternoon for us

Morning! Something weird is going on with me and I don't know what it is/why it's happening. It was happening yesterday and I can already feel it starting today. I feel super full/bloated/have indigestion. And then last night shortly before bed I got a sharp pain in the middle of my upper back, right between the shoulder blades. Dr. google tells me it could be my gallbladder.
I didn't even finish your post and thought gallbladder. Hope not!
Speaking of carriers who is still using one? I stopped a few months ago because she's just too heavy (not weight limit for the carrier, but weight limit for ME). We have a hiking backpack but that's for hiking only - it's huge.
Me! I do anytime we are at a store and I don't want to bring in the carseat because I need cart space. Or like Kohl's that doesn't have appropriate carts to hold the carseat.

apunicorn, i still wear G often, any time we are shopping or out of town, also we go for a hike at least 2x a week. however she is only about 17lbs right now so not very heavy at all. I tried a back carry the other day doing outside chores and it felt so nice, my back didn't hurt and i was able to actually move without feeling pregnant again. ( i tried raking leaves with her on my front and it didn't work)
kate61487, sorry about all your nanny troubles. hopefully it was a legit reason and she just didn't know how long she would need to be gone so instead of telling you a time frame and having to change it she just quit. or maybe she took her vacation to check on the relative and then realized the relative needs her.

If I haven't successfully worn DD yet, it probably won't happen, right? I have both a moby and an ergo and she cries unless my arms are around her which defeats the purpose of baby wearing to have my hands free.

Not necessarily. You've probably passed the usefulness of the moby but she should be good in the ergo. Have you tried a back carry? If you have her on your front and let go with your arms after a couple minutes does she notice?

We made it home! I'm so glad to be back in his nursery with a glider. I've been nursing him sitting on the side of the bed all week and my back is killing me. Now I'm hoping h goes to bed early so I can watch GG, drink a glass of wine, and sit undisturbed.

Is center based care an option for you all? I feel like our kids are getting to an age when the added interaction with other kids is a plus.
Anecdotally - my cousin(in law) with twins has been having similar issues. All my sorries.
We really don't want to introduce daycare germs until they're 2 given they were so preemie. Plus this never ending cold has made us all miserable so dh is even more anti daycare lol.
I'm considering taking mil up on her full time care offer if it still stands. I honestly don't know if she can handle it but I'm hoping she'd tell us if it got to be too much and if that were the case my mom can help temporarily (she has to stay with us when she watches them bc the drive is too far to make daily) while we started the nanny search over. Originally I said no to mil bc I thought it would be too much for her (she's 66) and bc I thought the dynamic would be challenging, but she's been our backup care between nannies and on nanny sick/vacation days and it's been fine dynamic-wise, so I'm reconsidering.
Sorry for the nanny issues again! You are going through an agency? I wonder if you found someone a bit older, that way you kind of know it's a chosen career path and something they enjoy and probably would be around for awhile. I don't know, maybe that's a stereotype in my head but I'm sure younger girls it's more of a job and probably a temporary one depending on what path they take in life. I'm sure it's nothing to do with your children or you guys at all.
You could have a deep conversation with your MIL about being very open if she's not handling it well. Or maybe she can just do it for 6 months or a year until they are a bit older and you feel more comfortable putting them into a group setting.
So, I'm bummed. My new Xmas tree came the other day. We've been so busy I just left it in the garage, and yesterday while I was gone DH took it out and put it together. So nice of him, I appreciate it especially since I didn't even mention doing it! He sent me a pic of it and it has multi colored lights. Ummm thought I ordered clear. I looked up my invoice and apparently I accidentally ordered the multi colored. I just bought a bunch of pretty ornaments and I don't think they'll go well with a multi colored tree at all. So I don't know what to do. H put the tree all together so it's not like an easy thing to tear down, pack back up, and ship back for an exchange. I'm sad. First world problems and I need to get over it?!?
My little guy is sick He hasn't thrown up again so I thought we were in the clear. But now it's bathroom issues. And he's horrified. He had his first accident ever because he didn't make it and he cried and cried. Broke my heart. So he and I will be home tomorrow
chocolate can it be returned? Honestly... I might? But I'm a white light person. That being said, SO is a colored light person and so we alternate. And every year I end up loving the tree, no matter which lights we use. But if it's going to make you crazy and it's a long term purchase (I've never gotten a fake tree so I not know how long they last?), I might exchange it.

I know I really debated it. But, I do have a couple 3 or 4 foot trees so I might do my "nice" ornaments on one of those and maybe the big tree will just have to be the more fun and vibrant kid tree. Since I just bought oranaments I'll decorate the big tree with those, and maybe next year buy more and swap around. We had our last tree for 7-8 years? They last a long time, so yes this is a very permanent purchase. But we have kids, and honestly they probably like it better with all the colors. I have lots of time for fancy trees!
chocolate that sounds like a good compromise to me. My plan for next year after my basement is finished to put our old tree downstairs with all the sentimental and kid ornaments on it and have the upstairs living room tree be the "pretty" tree.

That must be so scary for him. Poor boy. I hope he feels better soon!

Omg I'm in cyber Monday hell. Someone take my credit cards away. I have lost count of all the packages I have coming from the past week of shopping! I ordered Christmas presents from 2 different sites, Amazon sent me a split order then I placed a new order, I got an album made, used my airmiles to get my niece a bike that can be used by Magoo after, and then ordered my new Christmas tree which I can pick up this week.
